True if only one man decides to be picky nothing will happen, but maybe if all men collectively decided to be picky then women would get less matches overall and would have a smaller pool to pick from. Of course, then instead of the top 5% getting picked it would be more like the top 30% (and that's being generous), and also surely not all men will comply with this and will refuse to be picky so they can get more matches and jeopardize the whole system
