If people have a problem with me because I'm a man, that's their problem, not mine. I'm not going to identify out of being a man just to be treated better by people who are prejudiced against me for what I am. Also, men can paint their nails, smell like strawberries, and wear dresses; those things don't change the immutable fact of being a man.

The expectation for men to be masculine can feel just as restrictive as the expectation was for you to be feminine before you transitioned. You feel freer now because you wanted to be more masculine and be accepted, and now you are (inasmuch as masculinity in men is accepted today), but now you're no longer free to express femininity if you wanted to. Also, IRL, I don't see the push for men to be more feminine. I live in a suburb of a large U.S. city, and both where I live and in the city, I see…

This article and others like it are thinly-veiled advertisements. Google "leg lengthening" and go to the News tab. There's been a bunch of articles in prominent news outlets within the last few weeks talking about this exact same thing. Try to spot the client(s); it's not hard. (Once you realize how common this kind of "news" is, you'll start seeing it everywhere.) This is an essay about the phenomenon. (Edited to fix my shitty grammar.)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
