There is much more to communication than just words. People react in different ways on how you say something. Yes, they're probably tired from all the cat calling on the streets or the messages she gets on tinder... Who cares? Information exchange is important, yet often bland, but the emotional feedback is the key. Example: 'How was your day? :(' is totally different from 'How was your day? :D'

I don't see these generic questions as inherently bad, but more like a foundation for further conversation where you go from generic to deeper levels.

Stop. Don't ask yourself wether a girl 'cares' about you or wether there could be a relationship. Go with the flow. Keep on doing your stuff and let her do hers and you might end up together down the lane. Just stop worrying too much.

You're doing everything right from my perspective. You have your own goals in life, have different tastes and hobbies and you're sociable. Good. Everyone like to have a funny friend around, right?
