Hi. I'm just going to wade in here and clarify exactly what everyone's trying to say, just so we're both on the same page here. There is no definite proof it was any person or group in particular, since there was no CCTV of someone pulling the alarm, or no witnesses. That much is true. However given a trend of protesting, harassment and attempting intimidation at these types of talks in the past by the more extreme elements within feminism, it's perfectly logical to presuppose that it was this a…

As long as you (and everyone else) looks for what's best for everyone, then people will make progress. Incidentally, I thought I'd tell you that your name has an SRS tag on it....

I see no inherent problem with these classes, it doesn't look like the sort that will go out and beat the crap out of people just in case, so people learning self-defence isn't a problem. The only thing that I see, however, is that they seem to be trying to hype the risk up out of proportion to get more panicked people to join. By showing that lady in the armour, it seems to be trying to imply that it's a war-zone out there and they should expect to be kicked every time you go outside to scare p…

This is one of the comments: It's better to believe, then disprove, than to let a possible child molestor go free. Soooo, we're just gonna turn a blind eye to "innocent until proven guilty" then?

Not in my experience. From people I know who have been unbelievably unfortunate in having to sadly go through the process as victims, at no stage were anyone "guilty until proven innocent". In fact, it was one of the hardest things they have had to do as not only was the burden of proof on them, but all the defence had to do was imply that they were just slags and "gagging for it" and that's it. That's also ignoring the fact that nothing might come of it in the end. An actual rapist may well tra…

Sorry, no. Both of these "Schrodinger" examples are at the polar ends of the scale. Neither are really neutral. Courts, however, absolutely must be neutral, otherwise our courts are officially biased. To be anything else is to miss out on fair justice and despite how much you feel the courts are currently biased (assuming that's the case), making it just as biased the other way hasn't really fixed anything, in the same way as turning a shower from unbearably cold to unbearably hot isn't really a…

The end part is absolutely correct. However, the bit before it where it describes male friends as "sheep" is simply bad taste. It uses a bad choice of words to fail to describe something.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
