You would be surprised to see how many people with two left feet who join dance classes. The trainers are usually patient and encouraging (if a trainer is an ass, quit and join another class). Once you are able to do some basic steps, you would love to show yourself off. My tip: Start with something simple, I started with ballroom, then to salsa and finally to hip hop. Acting classes or other activities like dancing etc is a great tip. Stop obsessing over a spelling mistake when a person is trying to help someone.

I am short 5'6", decent shape but not especially attractive. I used to follow the game for a while and did reasonably well. Due to my interest in reading etc. I don't follow the game verbatim.
