In my personal experience, that is only true in hook ups, in ltrs, most women that my friends and I have dated lost interest if you never showed your feelings to them.

The Men's Rights subreddit is a place for those who wish to discuss men's rights and the ways said rights are infringed upon. I just fail to see how an article about dating has anything to do with men's rights.

My parents have been together for 40 years so far and are both approaching retirement age. Almost all of their friends have been in similar relationships where both the man and the woman works and only one of the 20 or so of these couples that I know(/knew) has divorced. Obviously my experience is not representative of the population at large, but it provides at the very least a counter example to your broad generalisation.

The definition of essay is "a short piece of writing on a particular subject" (source: Googled define essay). 1000 words is a short piece of writing so I think calling it an essay is technically correct.

Are you trying to argue that TRP could advocate being a Nice GuyTM? In case it isn't clear, the TM is meant to illustrate that is taking it to the extreme where you are basically a doormant to the woman.

I agree, there are traits that will change how attractive you are. My point is that people value different traits differently. To take your example of a guy losing 200 pounds, one girl might not care too much as she might care more about personality compatibility or intelligence, whilst for someone else, that might be all the incentive they need to actually date the guy. Most people don't go and look at someone and go, "oh look, red hair -5 smv, great biceps +3 points." I would be fine with it i…

To me, SMV implies objectivity. Each person has different preferences so whilst there are some characteristics that are prized by the majority, there is enough variation that talking about it as if it can be accurately measured as to me is implied by the use of market value is just wrong. Basically my issue with SMV is that one man/woman's 2 is anothers 7

Nah, we just believe that they shouldn't be allowed to vote and should be forced to stay at home whilst women get full control over them. They also don't mature beyond the age of 15 as can be seen by the fact that they can't control themselves when someone who is passably attractive is nearby.

I think he's trying to compare dating a woman to possibly getting killed by a wild beast. I mean women are totally irrational creatures of instinct who you can't reason with and are incapable of selflessness. They only exist to serve their base desires of eating and fucking. (/s)

Why is the study irrelevant. It clearly shows data to support my position that men cheat more than women. Are you arguing that cheating in men is not frowned on by society? From my experience male and female cheating is equally frowned upon. Sure the norms will still be acting on them to some extent but it is much less than if the study was not anonymised as if there is the potential for people to know who you are, people start to worry about there reputation whilst if you're told that it is ano…

From my experience, the 'little hamster in every woman' is equivalent to the fact that RP can turn any man into an 'alpha'. In most people they don't demonstrate those traits most of the time. The study I linked elsewhere shows that men cheat more than women. Since dark-triad/alpha men make up a small proportion of the population, the numbers should be fairly unaffected by them.

Can I have some data to back up this 20/80 rule, I see it commonly cited yet I have seen no evidence of it happening except in limited form in casual hook ups. Even then, I have seen almost every guy who is trying to pick up a girl in a bar do so successfully at least once a week. In LTRs, which most people are in (particuarly in the context of infidelity) a 1:1 ratio is prevalent. It is quite hard to be in a long term relationship with 5 people at once without one of them catching on pretty qui…

I've provided a study already in this thread from this year that shows that men cheat more than women. Do you have an issue with that study? In an anonymised study (as the one I linked was), social and cultural pressures should no longer apply. Thus incidence of cheating should be low. If the study was not properly anonymised then I agree that there would be a higher incidence of lying amongst women.
/r/TheRedPill28/05/14 03:10 PM
-14

So we shouldn't trust any findings that sociology makes? I'd claim that in most surveys of this kind, the amount of lying is relatively unaffected by gender.
/r/TheRedPill28/05/14 02:55 PM
-1

and why should more women lie about it than men? The study which I've linked below shows that it was anonymised so the results should be fairly accurate. Lying in anonymised surveys i.e. no social pressure tends to be fairly gender neutral.
/r/TheRedPill28/05/14 02:34 PM
-10

Citation provided elsewhere in the thread. What incentive would someone have to lie in an anonymous survey. Most studies have a clause in the agreement document asking you to confirm that what you say is true. I'm not saying that it's 100% accurate but by anonymising the survey, you're making it much more accurate as there should be no incentive to lie. It's an inherent flaw in sociology but overall it doesn't mean much as lying is relatively unaffected by most things.

It's a bit weird but shouldn't affect the statistics too much as by that point you're approximating variance using and confidence intervals using the normal not t distribution.

The main issue with cheating is that it is a breach of trust. Most men I know who've cheated have done so because they weren't satisfied with their current relationship and wanted to do more on the side. For most of them, it wasn't solely for sex. Given how long most affairs last (it isn't normally just a one night thing) there is an element of commitment to it. If all affairs were just one night stands, then I would agree with you that Male infidelity is marginally more excusable than female in…

As I understand it, the difference between anecdote and empirical evidence is in conducting a study. In an anecdote, you are being given one person's interpretation of what happened in a particular situation. Are you trying to argue that being unhappy with the marriage is a bad reason to get a divorce? To me, the whole point of marriage is to cement a happy relationship (although I think that it's only value in the modern world is the romantic element of it) and thus being consistently unhappy with a marriage is a good reason to end it. According to this site over half of divorces are caused (at least in part) by infidelity with a further 29% being caused by abuse in the relationship. This is ignorin…

Who initiates the divorce tells us very little about the issues with the marriage. If a man is abusing his wife, is the man the one who is more likely to initiate divorce? If a woman cheats on a man, is the woman the one who is going to initiate the divorce? Are you trying to argue that being unhappy with the marriage is a bad reason to get a divorce? I have already addressed pretty much all the rest of what you've said. Do you have any issues with those arguments?

I'm not following the comparison of marriage to slavery, could you pleae enlighten me? As I see it, one of them is voluntary, the other was not. One did not remove any of your human rights, the other did. One makes you and equal partner in something, the other grants possession of you to someone else. One can be ended at any time by either party, the other cannot. (For that matter can you expand on the idea of the majority of people as slaves to government?)

Not the person you replied to but I'll have a go at replying to this So instead of making a generalization about genders, you treat everyone as individual unrelated to the gender the belong to? Yes. As I understand it, technically you are both a rapist and a rape victim however it is highly unlikely that you would ever be prosecuted. There are already lots of examples of women contributing a lot to science, to name one, the electron spin model in chemistry was proposed by a woman (Maria Mayer). This shows that the women that go into STEM fields have as good a chance as men at doing something useful. To me, a large part of the difference is that to most people in society, STEM is stereotypically a man's job. The difference in IQ is not that high (and IQ is a flawed measurement of intelligence). Up until the 1920s, almost all women had no opportunity to go to university (and the rest of the education system was heavily in favour of men). For example Gauss said this of Sophie Germain in the 1820s: The enchanting charms of this sublime science reveal only to those who have the courage to go deeply into it.
