Yes of course. Didn't you hear about that pug that saluted hatler? The dogs are not to be trusted.

do you just call all people you disagree with white nationalists or alt right? Don't answer that it was rhetorical. Again, I didn't call you alt-right. I called alt-right propaganda alt-right. is it not ok to be white? Is there something wrong with being white? Simple fucking question lol but I know you aren't going to answer it. Of course it's okay. That's not the point. The point of the propaganda is that it's a means of setting up the pretense that people don't think it's okay in order to arg…

Not even sure why you're mad. I don't have a problem with you. Kinda weird that you're pseudo-defending intentionally manufactured and well-documented white nationalist propaganda but you do you I guess.

I mean sure but I wasn't calling you a white nationalist, all I did was call out white nationalist propaganda for being white nationalist propaganda (and compare it to other, similar white nationalist propaganda). The reason it's constructed as a statement that's fine on it's own is because the alt-right is obsessed with finding ways to get their ideology out into the mainstream, and it'd be difficult to do that if they instead used something more explicitly hateful and true to themselves. "It's…

That's also the point of a live reaction video. Sure, if you're willing to show off low reading comprehension and an inability to adress when a point you make is later invalidated by the article. What's wrong with saying it's ok to be white? Lmfao "It's okay to be white" origin and usage as white nationalist slogan/propaganda "Anti-racist is anti-white" created by white nationalist to support white nationalist conspiracy theories Hence the comparison. It's good to be aware of where phrases like …

wow its almost like he's never read the article before he records it and posts the video!!! Yeah that's the point yeah and don't call random people white nationalists, and fucking alt right. It's offensive and nothing is wrong with being right wing. I said stuff you said was alt-right propaganda. "Anti-racist means anti-white" is right up there with "It's okay to be white". Summary: Sargon is not reading his sources and often misrepresents them, completely missing the point in ways that could be interpreted as misleading if one didn't know any better. In the case of the whole female voices for AI thing, Sargon will make points that are literally explained in the article, either accidentally agreeing with the author or skipping over things that are explained in a way that discredits the source for anyone who hasn't read it (like pointing out something is a joke whil…

I literally was not trying to "stir shit" but okay. Kinda weird that you're not alt-right but you're willing to swallow so much of their terminology, ideology, and propaganda, including "alt left". You're willing to defend a dude who panders to a racist audience (but, admittedly, does make token efforts to get them to leave him alone by violating twitter's terms of service). Anti-racist means anti-white? Nice white nationalist rhetoric. Really proving to me that this sub is NOT inundated with the ideas of the alt-right. And Sargon wasn't kicked off twitter because the left hates free speech or whatever else you've bought into. He was kicked off twitter because he was tweeting porn at people he didn't like to get them to go away. Pretty valid reason to get kicked. If you read the FAQ, they talk about that. They say that they used to allow that, but people started changing the subject to men's issues all the time. It's not that they think men's issues are unimportant (they outright say that they are), it's that it's not the point of the sub. Imagine you're the mod of a sub for fans of apples. I thought feminism was about "equality" whats equal about only helping out women? The goal of feminism is to identify areas where women are discriminated against or opressed and to right those wrongs. The goal of men's rights is to identify areas where men are discriminated against or opressed and to right those wrongs. The idea is that we're both helping patch up holes in equality, just in different areas. Unfortunately, people will take advantage of both movements. Whether as a platform to sta…

If I took issue with a movement focusing on it's own purpouse, I would not still be subbed here. It would be nice if they helped spread our cause, but it's easy to see why it is they don't. That's neutrality, not malice. It would be just as easy to say men's rights only cares about the western world because we don't advocate for the end of female genital mutilation as often as male genital mutilation. In reality, that's a misrepresentation. We simply focus on our cause. Placing additional values…
/r/MensRights10/12/18 04:40 AM

I can't imagine it's because they think only one kind of mutilation is bad. It's probably for the same reason we mostly focus on MGM: It falls under the direct focus of our cause. It would certainly be nice if they would support our cause by speaking out against male genital mutilation. I am very much in favour of equal rights movements helping each other.

Feminism is not an organization, it's a vague social movement. According to the FAQ of this sub: "views on feminism vary as much as views on Men's Rights, if not more so, and it is impossible to globally state what a feminist believes." Considering this is the intention of the sub, I refrain from globally stating or assuming what feminists believe. More controversially, I believe that people described in the dictionary definition of 'feminism' actually exist, and that's why, just like us, there …

This is a great response and position to have on this. We already know men's rights isn't a hate group, but people outside have that impression. We should all do our best to engage with people calmly so as to show people we really are just an egalitarian equal rights movement with a focus on real issues faced by men.
/r/MensRights10/12/18 03:41 AM

Yeah, mutilation sucks. Anyone who supports it for either men or women is taking the wrong side of history on their stance of 'cutting up babies'. It would be in the best interest of both men's rights and women's rights group to end it worldwide.

That's not even close to a good comparison. I mean yeah, I agree. The only similarity is that they're both bad arguments. Good point, but again, the main reason is because they just don't have that many examples of "bad" MRAs. If they did, if there were MRAs who had influence who did bad things, there would be just as much whining there as there is here. Sure, it may be a lot harder to find influential people who are openly into men's rights. It's probably more controversial to say that than it …

People have come to disagreements in the comment section. It isn't a conspiracy. I worry for the people that can look in the comments and see opposing views on a sub that supposedly encourages them and start coming up with reasons it must be foul play. No, sorry but I'm not buying it. Like I said, we should judge the movement primarily on what it has actually done in the real world, not their pseudo-egalitarian theories. We should judge it based on the actions of the most powerful people in the movement, most of whom are anti-male. Sure, judge the movement based on what is going on in reality. As I've said, taking issues with feminism is 100% fine. I would not agree that feminism as a whole is to blame, partly because I have had experience on …

Is it propaganda if it's true with no exaggerations? You think the core of the feminist movement is 'more priviliges for women at the expense of men' and that there's no exaggerations in that claim whatsoever? Are you sure about that? Bias sources relying on outrage headlines help nobody. Especially when comparing suffragettes to terrorists. I feel gross having read that. If they're sane and informed, then yeah. Maybe that's true. In that case, we need to have serious conversations with feminists. What happens instead is that we isolate ourselves in a subreddit almost entirely comprised of outrage anti-feminist posts until we get so far into the echo chamber that we start to believe feminism is an incomprehensible beast that can't be reasoned with, only fought off with facts and logic. I can't blame them if they believe the bullshit propaganda that constantly smears us or if they're a "true feminist" aka wanting privileges over men and generally disliking us. You condemn propaganda against us, but immediately after you repeat anti-feminist propaganda. Not a good start. These people shouldn't be calling themselves feminists then. You have re-worded my claim in order to call it stupid (three times), you have invented straw-man arguments of 'the enemy', and you're certain that we can't "do the same mistakes and crimes" our 'enemy' has. Feminists do good and bad things. MRAs do good and bad things. More equality is always good, and the best way to push for more equality is not to condemn and ignore a group's actual arguments while isolating yourself in an echo chamber. I'm not talking about labeling yourself in particular, but just the anti-feminist stuff here. You said it's a circlejerk, and I'm trying to say it's not and how we're justified in feeling hostile towards it. Do you feel feminists would be justified in feeling hostile towards MRAs as a whole? I would say in either case the movements have such a wide spectrum of people that trying to put the blame on feminism or men's rights as a whole is pretty absurd. You can think feminism has flaws. There is nothing wrong with that. But when you label yourself anti-feminist, you destroy any ability you have to convince feminists of that, because they rightfully don't want to listen to someone who is 'anti-them'. I wouldn't imagine you would be very receptive to a feminist who openly proclaimed themself 'anti-MRA', so why expect the same? This is why your attempts to communicate with feminists end in them 'refusing to listen'. Feminism isn't going away anyti…

Correct, and that goes both ways. Feminists should try to get along with men's rights activists; men's rights activists should try to get along with feminists. This is a pointless battle of the sexes and it's embarassing that equal rights groups have been dragged into it.

If a politician or public figure is using an ideology to push hateful ideas, absolutely make people aware of that. Thing is, if you want to stop stuff like that, it's difficult to raise awareness when you use rhetoric than codemns the entire movement. Being an opponent of a movement because of people abusing it solves nothing. Convincing people within the movement that they're being taken advantage of can.

You're essentially saying "Give me an example of the men's rights movement doing the exact specific things the group I dislike has done". You're not trying to engage conversation, you're trying to make it impossible to talk to you. I have never claimed that men's rights is a hate movement, but hateful people do use it as a platform. Didn't say it didn't involve sexism, I said the term anti-sexist doesn't cover everything. It doesn't. Sexism is not required for inequality to exist. At the end of the day, the men's rights movements both exist to focus on inequality towards one of the sexes, they have both done good, they have both done bad, and both of them love to misrepresent the other as if they're simply a hate group, or unnecessary, or do more bad than good. Favouring one over the other is just straight-up bias. I don't …

Don't act like there's not hateful men's rights groups that have shifted into male supremacy groups. If all we're going to do is point to bad things people associated with movements we don't like have done, we'll get nowhere. There's no reason to condemn an entire movement based on the actions of the few. If we're gonna do that, feminism and men's rights are both evil. It's far more productive to take into account the majority who actually do want equal rights on either side. That's my main prob…

There's a need for people to identify as feminist because there are issues that are specific to women, same as the need for men's rights existing because there are issues specific to men. It's really that simple, there's no need to get mad at the fact people advocating for women's rights don't use the terminology you feel is more appropriate. Besides, 'anti-sexist' doesn't really cover everything. I'd agree with you that it would be better if everyone considered themselves an egalitarian first a…

It's a vocal minority, just like the few feminists who actually hate men are a vocal minority. It wouldn't be fair to judge the movement based on shitposts.
/r/MensRights08/12/18 10:09 PM

It would be easy to write off the entire movement on account of shitty posts like this, but there's plenty of people here who just want equal rights and aren't here to bash women and feminism. Deciding entire movements are terrible based on a few bad members is how we got the whole anti-feminism circlejerk in the first place, after all.
/r/MensRights08/12/18 10:06 PM

By that logic, none of us should call ourselves MRAs because of association with misogynists who use the cause as a shield to hide behind. Plenty of people think MRAs are all sexist, so why haven't you jumped ship and stopped calling yourself one yet? After all, if '#notallfeminists' is apologist, isn't '#notallMRAs' as well? Of course, the reality is that the majority of people who identify as either feminist or MRA just want equal rights, and the bad name of either exists because both sides en…

You've got bitter people who hate either sex who identify as feminist and as MRAs. Both movements also like to pretend the other isn't valid and only exists for hate. That gets us absolutely nowhere, as equality isn't a zero-sum game. Yes, feminists have a bad reputation at this point, but it's not worth taking advantage of and cherrypicking them, because we don't exactly have a great repuation either. God knows how easy it would be to cherrypick here.
/r/MensRights08/12/18 09:26 PM
1

So you'd consider "Men's rights activists are sexist, because if they were for equality, they'd be egalitarian" a valid argument? Because saying that feminism is 'no longer needed' while men's rights is is definitely a stretch. It would make sense if you'd only heard about straw feminism, but a lot of people have only heard about straw MRAs, so wouldn't it be best if all us equal rights movements got along?
/r/MensRights08/12/18 09:21 PM
1

Totally agree with you. Too many MRAs and feminists have decided equality is some kind of zero-sum game and figure the best way to support their group is by misrepresenting the other as a bunch of terrible people.
/r/MensRights08/12/18 09:13 PM

That's what I've been noticing. It's sad that people will use a legitimate cause as an excuse for their own shitty hatred while screenshotting people doing the same in another legitimate group as an attempt to prove a point. It happens for both MRAs and feminists and the hypocrisy is staggering.
/r/MensRights07/12/18 03:16 AM
1

Agreed, the fact I'm seeing this on my front page is making me reconsider being subbed here. Is this actually a movement for equal rights, or just a vehicle with which to mindlessly bash women and feminism? I really want this to be an actual, legitimate movement, because men face serious problems, but the more shit I see from here the more I think it's just a platform for people who've picked a side in the fucking Gender Wars.
/r/MensRights07/12/18 03:04 AM

This post is for sure but I hope you're aware the movement as a whole exists for a good reason. This subreddit is a little bit rough around the edges and all too willing to serve as a platform for hating the other, but I'm still subbed because I believe in the cause.

I do disregard them in my life as much as I'm able, I can also dislike that they exist in the first place. There is a reason men commit suicide at a rate many times more than women do, and that's because of emotional trauma. What's needed is social change, not looking the other way.

Are they? Isn't part of that expectation because women functionally need someone to provide for them while they're pregnant? That's only valid during pregnancy, plenty of couples don't intend to concieve or aren't planning to any time soon and men are still pushed to be providers. This is changing, but it's still an issue. It'd be nice on some level, but I actually think it's getting worse, at least in the US. Women are starting to become more financially successful than men, but they still expe…

You misunderstand me. Men shouldn't have to change at all. What is at fault are expectations that men should repress their emotions, among a plethora of other social expectations placed only on men which only serve to disadvantage them. There is nothing wrong with a man being stoic, what is wrong is people telling men they need to 'man up' (coded language intended to control men by attacking their masculinity). Men should be free to act however they want, and they shouldn't be pushed in the dire…

That's fair, but some things, such as expectations for men to pay for pay for outings and to be a provider, are purely part of a social construct that works against men. I definitely think that expecting men to not be emotional is a part of that, even if there is some biological factor. If people just treated men and women the same, and had the same emotional, financial, and social expectations regardless of sex, I think things would end up better for everyone. Absolutely, but lots of male behaviour is just due to artificial conditioning of men in ways that disadvantage them, and that is something that should change. Since you brought up attraction as an example, the fact that men are 'supposed to' be the one to ask people out puts them at a disadvantage, and also opens up the opportunity for them to be labeled as objectifying and sexual. In this case, there's no reason for the expectation to exist, things would be more equal if the expectation did not…

It's not things about men that are inherently bad, it's social expectations that are forced upon men that are bad. Yeah, that's fair enough. Sorry if I came across as harsh.

It is frustrating, hopefully at some point this view will become more widespread. Good on you for thinking for yourself!
