I haven’t read every comment so I’m not sure if this has been said but the term for what you are describing is a “covert contract” and I have seen it on level 1-100 unfortunately (ie. a stranger opens the door for me, flirts, is angry when I don’t respond….. all the way to male platonic friends cornering me and becoming violent because I turned them down) This is one of my favorite articles on this phenomenon which while not really a gendered issue I have only personally seen with grown man chil…

I had a conversation with someone last night, who’s partner had worked and paid bills while she finished school and found a better job, and now her partner wanted to go back to school so those roles were reversed. She liked that she could do so because it took away any power imbalance in the relationship. While I thought it was great I couldn’t help but say- money is not the only thing that brings power or value into a relationship, it really sucks that men have forgotten this. The non monetary …

they are called softbois, i can't believe i know his lmao, it’s one of many strange evolutions of the original fuckboi. totally conscious of their behavior btw, which is the part that makes it so bad.

I broke up with someone 3 years ago who might have had a high net worth, but was not high value, and gave me an absurd amount of grief when I asked for emotional support- he wanted me to put my dog down for a treatable illness (my dog was very sick, and her treatment was expensive. But I support myself, we don’t live together, neither of us are broke.... wtf?!) Anyway the dog is still alive and I have no regrets lol.

I was going to say I have male Aussie friends that call each other that practically as a term of endearment, but none of them would dare say it to me lol

Everywhere!! There are men everywhere. From the post office to the gas station (granted I’ve never met a guy worth talking to at a gas station , but it doesn’t stop them from trying) to spots I stop by on my way home to pick up dinner. I’ve had more than a few people ask me out at Whole Foods, that was pre COVID too. Walking my dog, rollerblading in my neighborhood. I live in a highly populated beach area, so I’m just as likely to meet people from outside my neighborhood who came out to the beac…

I mean I live in an area where there is no outdoor dining still let alone much else, and I haven’t used OLD this year. I see why people would think it might be acceptable but it’s just not. I’m not in a rush to meet/date during the pandemic but I am in my mid thirties and get asked out a lot, can’t turn them all down lmao. Well, up until they suggest something like this for a first date, then it’s easy to turn down not even a date really.

Tbh, this is one of the most frustrating things about dating the last year. COVID has given rise to the low effort/no effort “let’s hang out at my house/your house” date, so many people think this is acceptable now. Like hell no I don’t know you, I don’t want you to know where I live yet. It’s tough and men have to be creative right now but if they aren’t willing to be creative then they aren’t worth it

Never have I ever heard a guy tell me that I am way too good for him, that it didn’t end up being the case 🤣

I agree with both points, and its a good indicator of if the friendship is salvageable (willingness to hang out in said group, or not) I would only add, that even in situations where my male friend is truly my friend and not something even questionably weird, it always makes me feel weird if he never brings his girlfriend/wife around me. So I always ask and encourage them to bring them to hang out at least some of the time, and make sure to ask how they are and throw hella compliments out when t…

Do you go out with her ever? Not even just out to bars but art shows or music shows... fuck, a book club if that’s your jam. When I was in a similar position, having my own friends and my own life outside the relationship raised my self confidence levels. He always tried to own me, but didn’t treat me right. He did actually propose soon after my attitude changed, which was like 7 years into the relationship at that point. I ended up staying but postponed the wedding because my career was taking …

I mean it’s not just me that has to deal with it- and it’s not going away until men fucking act right. This woman you posted, might think she’s happy to give away her rights and that’s sad. Seeing the level of hate from so many other subs because of the reactions in this thread (from women, who for the most part actually seem to be having the correct reaction,) That shit is crazy.

I’m honestly confused at so many other subs (at least a few would consider pretty extreme compared to FDS in their viewpoints) posting screenshots from our page, or cherry picking some comment or paragraph out of context to use an excuse to shit all over the women here I won’t say I agree with everything posted by everyone who posts here on this sub, but welcome to the Internet? There are different levels of crazy everywhere and I’m a lot more horrified about things I’ve seen on other dating sub…

I guess I just see it as many bad as good. That doesn’t make the unacceptable behavior as ok, and it doesn’t make the good cancel out the bad. total shit faces come in every gender religion background age etc. all we can really do is not excuse or tolerate the behavior. I’m not saying men aren’t trash I’m just saying people are kind of trash sometimes so let’s not forget who the real enemy is, people who don’t know how the fuck to act.

I don’t know if you read her original post but this is about a man who expected sex for buying her coffee, and other similar experiences she’s encountering. Most of us are not bitter, however we will not be pressured into sex (argued with, told we owe them sex after we say no) over a couple bucks for a coffee or because a guy was nice to us. THIS is not the start of an honest relationship. I’m sorry but your entire post is off it’s rocker and not relevant. Not all men are pigs. My actual male fr…

r/niceguystories r/niceguys There’s actually another subreddit that is ok, doesn’t hit the nail on the head always but it’s reformed nice guys asking for advice how to actually be nice to women and have proper expectations in different situations, not the nice guy stereotype

https://thingofthings.wordpress.com/2017/11/17/entitlement-covert-contracts-social-libertarianism-and-related-concepts/ Yeah, I had trouble reading the “nice guys” at first too. I actually do have legit male friendships and generally value my ability to be clear about the boundaries of those sort of friendships, so it was confusing when after months of someone thinking we’re on the same level I get the friendzoning talk, followed by pressure when I continue to be clear, followed by actual aggres…

There’s both, usually the ones who expect sex aren’t the ones you want anything to do with anyway- those are the typical “mr nice guys” that even if you’re clear with (say you declined that coffee, did not extend your phone number) will not take no for an answer and have convinced them selves in their heads that you share something that you don’t. Oh you hooked up with (insert someone else here) but IM not good enough? I was nice to you but NO to sex? Opened a door for you really no sex? REALLY?…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
