Also, I do agree with "fake it til you make it". It is an incredible life philosophy that can really make a difference in one's whole being. It is also blanket advice that I would follow and give in a heartbeat. There is plenty of time for the corporate jobs... and there is so much more to life than money. I am failing to see how looking good has any bearing on how well they will complete the tasks given in a job. Actually, I did, and most of the degree requirements can be subverted by special permission from committee to take life experience into account. If you are looking at the 20s as a whole, getting a 4 year degree could be easily accomplished with spending a substantial amount of time abroad. From what I understand he has been working for resorts as a life guard on the pools and beaches. I actually just looked him up on facebook, he is currently living in Costa Rica. As another side note, if you travel right, it is building for your future. Just as an example, say you travel SE Asia for a year or two and learn customs and languages for 5 countries. I actually graduated with a guy who has spent the last decade traveling the world and has not been a resident of the US since he graduated, he has lived in something like 12 countries spread out all over the world... and I can promise you that he could get a job in minutes because of it. People don't realize just how much something like that makes a difference in the job seeking process.

http://www.projects-abroad.org/ is the place I am going through for mine. Most of their fees are pretty low, hell, I am doing 10 weeks in Fiji for 7780, but that is including some pretty hefty perks. 27, applied math major working on my bachelor's degree. I end up having day classes, so I tend to meet chicks at school between classes. It is where I am most comfortable and most likely to find common topics of conversation or ice breakers. "what's your major?" works very well to get a conversation started.
