There is a good psychological literature on the topic of male suicide that is on point with these statistics.

Yes, the hero's journey is a great example. My proposition is that men need to understand and update the hero's journey for their life.

I just want to make clear that I'm not advocating for the abandonment of the hero psychology. I believe we evolved that psychology for survival. I am simply stating that we need to update or reform the classic hero psychology within us. It isn't clear to me that men have done a good job of this.

I've heard all of those communities but one. I'll check it out. Thanks.

I may have misspoke, as well. Thanks for the dialogue.

Depends on how we define hero. Also, I am assuming--to some degree--that our peaceful democracies--generally speaking--become the norm and continue on their trajectory. Which may in fact be false. Men, it seems to me need to update their hero idea. Maybe make the hero more of an abstraction of sorts.

Fair enough. Although, I think there is more pressure on men than just #metoo to change psychologically. My proposition doesn't assume that it necessarily has to be "rapid change". In fact, it's quite the opposite.

Can you post a link? I am not familiar with lysenkoism as a psychological phenomena.

I made a new video tonight. I tried to tighten the audio and message a bit. Hopefully this one is better. If you have time, I would appreciate some more feedback. https://youtu.be/CS8TieAebPY

Thanks for the input. I will definitely continue to make videos and I encourage you to do the same--or something like it in the future. Hopefully the videos get better as I progress.

This reminds me of the Alain de Botton's school of life channel. I really enjoy some of his work. Have you heard anything from him?

Below is an example of something I was trying to do, to start a conversation. Let me know what you think. Any feedback would be great. I https://youtu.be/3M4paAN9A2Y

I think it's a good idea. However, the implementation of these kinds of interventions are tricky, particularly over the internet. I have been thinking about doing something similar for about 2 years. One of the young men I mentored thought I should create a YouTube channel. The channel would serve as a platform to have long form discussions. Not exactly sure how effective it will be. Do you know how successful online mentoring is--or whatever one calls it?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
