It's because it's a dark topic. Rape is something that shouldn't be mentioned in a jokingly way. It's more of an anti joke (we are expecting a punchline and instead get a solid fact/statement) and because he set it up like a "comical" joke we are more stunned by the "obvious factor". It's how an anti joke works. I personally thought it was humorous, but half the joke is also the delivery.

In most cases, staying silent is often the best way to go. However, what he said was not necessarily bad, if OP held frame after the comment was said (which I'm sure the silence following was expected) then there should be no problem

I prefer the naming as it I a tradition in my family. My son will be named Edwin for my grandpa who influenced my life hugely. After that I go towards successful people (similar to the Fortune 500 that was posted) so a names like Donald, Bill/William, Michael, etc are very nice.

I recommend some sort of program that is loosely religious based. (I was in this situation so I wound up joining BBYO, it's a Jewish youth group for 8-12 graders. Still split in guys (AZA) and girls (BBG) but many events are co-ed. It's really great.

I never understood it. If a company could hire women at $0.70 to the $1.00 of male workers(and seemingly get away with it), why wouldn't they just hire all women? Unless the quality of work was different (like for a physical job) it makes more sense.

The idea behind a unicorn is that the one we find will be what we want and it will line up with our unique puzzle shape that is our idea of life. The hope is that when we find the unicorn, it'll be a unicorn to only us. My unicorn may have a tattoo, you may hate tattoos, so my unicorn is not yours. The concept is that we will eventually find one for ourselves not one that is perfect in comparison, but is purely complimentary.
