Teacher recommended me for a STEM scholarship from lockheed martin, me being a straight white male, how is this not sexist and racist? There are a lot more categories in that list than what you cropped. The order in which it is listed is to encourage more applicants from those backgrounds, and is not likely to be the deciding factor. | /r/MensRights | 29/11/18 04:00 AM
Teacher recommended me for a STEM scholarship from lockheed martin, me being a straight white male, how is this not sexist and racist? It’s not impossible. I went to school on scholarships that stated a preference for minorities, women, and low income candidates. A couple that I got surprised me because I put very little effort into them, knowing they’d be awarded to someone from one of those categories. (Side note: I’m gay but was not out at the time and LGBT inclusion efforts weren’t a thing 14 years ago, so to the application process I was just a plain ol’ white male.) I’m sure things have changed but often times the word “p… | /r/MensRights | 29/11/18 03:57 AM

Teacher recommended me for a STEM scholarship from lockheed martin, me being a straight white male, how is this not sexist and racist?Don’t they do a lot of government contracts? It’s likely they jump through hoops to achieve certain hiring quotas to appease special interest groups. I’m not justifying it, but it explains their motivation since the government is said to be easy to manipulate into overpaying. An overpaying customer is often more lucrative than a quality product, just look at cable/ISPs. | /r/MensRights | 29/11/18 02:54 AM

The female perpetrator was not punishedIn a normal relationship walking in on your woman masturbating absolutely is an invitation. 🥴 | /r/MensRights | 28/11/18 06:06 AM |

The nation's capital of canada biggest college is now enforcing holding spots for women in engineering studies over qualified males.I think I understand your point, but there are professions where men are outnumbered. I haven’t really heard many strong voices complaining about the lack of males in the nursing field. The number grows because of confident males who own their career choices and don’t let “male career” or “female career” scare them away from it. | /r/MensRights | 27/11/18 01:57 AM

The nation's capital of canada biggest college is now enforcing holding spots for women in engineering studies over qualified males. You are a woman who thinks she’s a gay man so you are attracted to men? Your gay and she’s a lesbian? What’s the difference? I thought it would be easy to read between the lines. I am a gay man. She is a lesbian. Otherwise there would be no need for me to say gay and lesbian in the same sentence. I guess I could’ve just said we’re both gay since anyone typing on the internet is male anyway. My intent was to say that engineers who come from minority demographics should go through the same applica… | /r/MensRights | 26/11/18 11:41 PM
The nation's capital of canada biggest college is now enforcing holding spots for women in engineering studies over qualified males. It’s not directly lowering standards, no. But if you reserve 30% for females, then the potential (dare I say intent) is there to refuse otherwise qualified males based on meeting the female quota. The article says 8/200, or 4% is female currently, so 96% non-female (male if we’re talking binary). In order to reach 30% female without changing class size, that requires replacing 26% of the males. That would be okay if they beat out the males for the spots through their applications; however, the a… | /r/MensRights | 26/11/18 10:22 PM
The nation's capital of canada biggest college is now enforcing holding spots for women in engineering studies over qualified males. This is what infuriates me the most. My best friend and I are engineers. We graduated top of our ChemE class a little over 10 years ago and we worked our asses off to get there: we had internships, worked as TAs, did extracurricular research, etc. She was #1 and double majored in math and I was #2 and graduated with honors. Though I’m gay and she’s a lesbian, most people weren’t aware of it; they usually thought we were dating due to how much time we spent together. Those who knew about us didn’… | /r/MensRights | 26/11/18 08:54 PM
New Harvard study debunks gender pay gap: women earn less because they choose to work less than menThat’s because their alternative to not working more often is time at home with family. The alternative for men choosing to work less is eventually having to work harder at a worse job. We work hard because we have to. There’s no get to for us. | /r/MensRights | 25/11/18 07:59 PM

How the word 'Mansplaining' is misogynistic.A friend of mine backed into a parking spot with her aunt in the passenger seat. My friend grew up as a tomboy, has an Ellen look to her, extremely awesome person. Her aunt asked her why she always backs in and she just said she finds it more convenient and has always had to park that way at the plant where she works. Her aunt went on to disparage her and call her “pretty much a dude anyway” for being able to park in reverse since her husband always parks in reverse. Apparently knowing how to pa… | /r/MensRights | 16/07/18 12:27 PM
