I think it'll force the conversation eventually. I mean, I don't see anything wrong with it (male or female) being an elective surgery. But that's a whole separate thing.

I'm a girl, so I don't think I have much of a say on circumcision. But, the slicing of women's bits may be more of an issue than we think pretty soon. I recently watched a documentary about removal of the vaginal lips becoming a "thing" in plastic surgery. One can assume that once an open discussion about voluntary vaginal snipping starts, it'll re-open the discussion about the snipping of male bits, possibly in a whole new light. Who knows? Maybe the whole genital manipulation thing will become…

I've been the girl in a situation like this. Was walking home from school with a group of about 3 guy friends and 1 girl I had just met. These 4 girls approached us. They were friends of an ex I had just broken up with. They jumped me and not a single one of my guy friends did anything to stop it because "hitting a girl is wrong". I had braces at the time, too... Everyone thought I was ridiculous for expecting them to do something.

I was coming back here to share that I voiced my disagreement with the article and multiple people were actually very kind to me and that it gave me hope of this not becoming a shit flinging contest between the two groups. Then I saw a guy use the phrase "insane feminist bitch" to conclude his comment. And 2 different people called me a man... So, yeah... hope is lost. But, people were nice to me. So, yay? :/

This is getting really ridiculous, really fast...

The term 'feminism' alone makes me think 'female superiority' not 'equality'. The fact that anyone, regardless of what they were speaking about, was denied the ability to speak is sad. Even if they are wrong (which I'm not saying she is or isn't) when your response to an opposing view is silencing them, all you do is show that you can't actually win a debate against them. If you really disagree with something so strongly, why don't you attempt to refute her stance at the end of the lecture? Or s…

Yeah. Sorry, I just re-read my response to you and it sounds kinda hostile... Didn't mean for it to be.

I know men vastly outnumber women here, but 40 women total? Out of 88+ thousand subscribers, 9-10% is around 8,800. I guess men would be more interested in taking the survey than women would, and a lot of women probably lurk for a while before contributing (like I did) but 40 out of 88k just seems insane.

When was this survey taken? And where for that matter? I refuse to believe I'm one of only 40 women on here... The question "Which of the following issues do you support?", why can you only pick one? Does supporting gay marriage mean I'm pro-life now? This "survey" is ridiculous. And I thought Wil Wheaton was smart... :(

Thanks for clarifying. It's beyond me how some people think that is a legitimate argument. Like it's impossible for something to be sexist against both genders at once. I suppose the same people are the ones who say male discrimination doesn't exist. As a woman, it just makes me sad. As a human being, it makes me angry.

Definitely. Anything that gives someone special treatment for being different is just furthering the idea that different = lesser. Which, in my opinion, is a problem, not a solution.

This is exactly my point. Women should feel insulted, but men are the ones who have to deal with the damage. Men are outright denied something that shouldn't be denied to anyone in a lot of cases. And in others, like child custody/support, they are treated as less capable when they want custody, but expected to need less when they want support or expected to give more if the woman wants support. It's a terrible double-standard that can hurt the man and the children involved. I've never heard the…

I'm not sure many will agree with me on this, but I feel like a lot of "female privileges" are really just discrimination of both genders. For example, women only scholarships. Maybe I read too much into things but to me it is just insulting to both genders. To men: "Hey, you might be a really strong student with a great work ethic and tons of achievements, but you have a dick which means you can find something else." To women: "We know that if a strong, smart man was able to compete against you…

Call me crazy, but I don't think boys and men need to be taught not to rape. We don't have to teach kids not to murder people, do we? RAINN said it perfectly with, "promoting clearer education on "where the 'consent line' is."" This is just my opinion, but the problem isn't with boys thinking rape is okay. The problem is that many boys and girls don't really know, or haven't been taught, what qualifies as rape. A lot (not a majority) of boys and girls think that there's no such thing as raping y…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
