If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?Yeah I get and appreciate your sentiment, but again, I come from a poor household, so I understand full well the obstacles, and I worked in high school, and played 3 different sports, and I still had time to get good grades because my mom expected that of me. I went to college with student loans, and he’s I have a lot of debt but at least I had to opportunity to go and get a good education even though we were very poor. I’d like to see the study that suggests black sounding names get less callba… | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 06:31 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?Yes, for the reasons I already stated. You’ll catch up one day. Don’t see how slavery well over 100 years ago would prevent black parents from instilling those qualities in their household, but I don’t expect you to address any actual points I’ve made, you’ve avoided that this entire conversation. You have a good night buddy lol. | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 06:20 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?“I can’t help you” as if I needed help to comprehend your highly evolved absent logic. Keep up. | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 06:09 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?Lmao you’re the one who’s reduced this conversation to insults instead of facts, like I started it with. Who’s really the childish one? I simply highlighted the fact that your animosity was misguided. And slavery was well over 100 years ago, so you got the point just fine. You can’t argue my logic so you resort to insults, but I’m the triggered one. You’re right, I think we’re done here lol. | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 05:59 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?Lol you’re just trying to escalate my words. The bird feeder is just an analogy, just as your chicken and egg was. The analogy is perfectly justified in that poor black communities lead to higher policing, and if you cut down the crime there the policing would diminish too because there would be less need. Also being enslaved obviously affected black people, so once again you can stop taking what I’m saying completely out of context. But how does enslavement centuries ago contribute to the fact … | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 05:49 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women? The birds = police The bird feeder = crime in poor communities Didn’t think it was that hard to follow, sorry. And not sure how being enslaved correlates. They were still policed heavily because of the high crime rates, just like modern black neighborhoods | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 05:39 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women? It comes in that black citizens account for absurdly high crime rates. And again, as someone from a poor household with many siblings, I know firsthand that it is never a choice between food and good grades. We didn’t always have a ton of food but we were expected to bring home grades or face punishment | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 05:08 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?I’d contend that it’s not a chicken or egg scenario. It’s more like if I put a bird feeder in my yard, I would expect birds to flock there. If I take the bird feeder away, the birds will follow. As someone else in this thread has mentioned, the Italian and Irish communities had similar problems in their neighborhoods years ago. Until they quelled the cultural gang problems there they had a lot of issues with the police | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 04:50 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women? As someone who grew up in a very poor household, you can still be taught to value education, respect for others, etc. | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 04:01 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?Don’t take my words out of context. Poor people are poor because of their culture. Black people have high poverty rates, thus they commonly have those household issues. Do you deny that the priorities are different in poor households opposed to wealthier families? | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 03:51 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women? The link I sent is a free copy of the study. And black people are not killed more for speeding more. As others have posted in these comments, when factoring for variables like crime rate, black people are not disproportionately killed by police per interaction. Several studies have found this to be true. If you can’t find the studies others have posted on here I’d be happy to send you a couple here | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 03:37 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women? The notion that black people in general are killed at disproportionate rates to other groups is fallacy. There are a number of articles in this comment section that show this, so feel free to skim through them. Or I can send you links here if you prefer. | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 03:07 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?Yes many people speed, but as the study found, black people speed at a higher rate than other groups. This information is consistent with other data sets finding blacks commit more crime per capita, so it shouldn’t be that surprising. And don’t take my words out of context, in no way am I subscribing to the notion that all black people are criminals or anything like that. This is strictly data. | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 03:04 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women? With that first article, it seems to lack a lot of data, a concise methods section (they just took a database of traffic citations and filtered by black individuals and 7pm?), and any sort of context. Im curious if the results were similar for white drivers? There’s a paper that studied traffic citations rates and found that “ and high rates of black speeding citations per capita result from high violation rates.” Thus, black people being pulled over is more a function of them speeding moreso th… | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 02:57 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women? No, their own culture is designed to keep them that way(poor households in general). I grew up in largely black areas for most of my life and have spent countless hours around my black friends’ families. I’ve noticed an emphasis on different things in poor black households. They don’t put the same high priority on good grades like other ethnicities do. They often teach their kids to respect them as parents but not always others. This is of course not true for all black families, but it seems to … | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 02:29 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?I see your point, but why wouldn’t police patrol black areas more if they are creating more crime? If you were a police officer would you drive around a wealthy neighborhood where there hasn’t been a crime in months, or in the hood where crime happens nonstop? At least on traffic citations, there was a study that found black people being stopped more by police coincided directly with violation rates, and couldn’t be contributed to race | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 02:21 AM
If we should say #BlackLivesMatter instead of #AllLivesMatter because black people are getting killed at higher rates, Why isn’t it ok to point out that black men are being killed at higher rates than black women?People like you are why I appreciate reddit. I’ve been trying to get this point across to my friends, and all I’ve seen on Instagram and Facebook are my friends and family being strung along like puppets by their emotions. People who are offended by this research aren’t really looking for truth and justice, they’re looking to validate themselves as either a victim or a civil rights hero | /r/MensRights | 04/06/20 02:16 AM
