I had a FwB situation going on for six years actually. There was an eight year age difference, we were compatible on so many levels but I have always looked at him as more of a friend and he agreed. We still talk from time to time now that I’ve moved back home and he is even looking to come visit me soon. He’s just been a friend that’s always been there.

Wow - this sounds like my ex who lacked the ability to understand context, had zero sense of humor and harbored deep seeded insecurities. Good luck with that one

Agreed. That definitely does not happen with apps haha he was using that app the last time he was on the phone. He for sure knows this too. So hmm he’s blatantly not being genuine with you and you guys are 4 months in. You both should know whether or not to go forward at this point.

I dated someone who complained all the time about his job, family and how the world around him treated men in general (which he took very personally). I don’t mind a man being vulnerable to me but if you are going to constantly talk about how hard your life is, it can be a bit exhausting. If I have a problem I’m constantly trying to figure out a solution so it doesn’t get to a point where it could affect others. He lacked any sort of vision for how to thinking positively and tackle the problems …

This is the thing that will build up resentment on your part over time. Ask yourself if you’d want to be dealing with this kind of behavior during pregnancy or dealing with this type of control with your kids. Try to set boundaries and voice some concerns of yours and see how things progress from there. From personal experience, men who control/manipulate to this extent don’t necessarily respond well.

Who knows, to be honest my n count is a little more than I’d want it to be (6) but with men who I built a connection with for sure. The moment was never right, worked a ton, lived in a city so never stayed in a committed relationship, also mentally I was never fully ready for something serious. Living in Chicago and New York the culture around dating was very much sleeping with multiple people and then having a network of people you were always “talking” to. This mentality was never for me eithe…

He was obsessed with the phone thing. Honestly..I am so beyond grateful for this community. Getting all this out is really making it clear that I made the right choice. I’m definitely not trying to play victim and act like I’m not taking accountability, I could have been better and will continue to work on myself. To be honest, I can leave the relationship knowing more about what I want and who I am in a relationship

Exactly. That’s the thing. I was feeling like he had some very deep seeding issues which I’m not judging at all but I can’t bare the burden. I just wish he would have been more honest, that would have been a breakthrough for the relationship. I would have definitely been there for him in that sense. He was my man, of course I would have been there for him.

Thank you, that was kind of my perspective because the context was just not there and we had talked endlessly ( like hours) about phones and talking to the opposite sex. Why that trust wasn’t there I’m not sure, asked him about it and he just gave a “no I don’t have trust issues,” short answer. I don’t know why he put that on me because I’m a one man kind of girl and would not mess a relationship up by cheating or being shady. So He initially brought up those rules and would make it a point ever…

I have an example below and hopefully that can give you more insight into how he thought. Honestly I knew that the first couple of months shouldn’t be this rocky..we just had so much in common and I was blinded by it.

Very true, this is a one sided story. I think ending it was right because even though it had potential the communication was just so Awful. I just knew deep down that things shouldn’t be this shaky early on. Thank you for your insight.

We would have long drawn out conversations about things I had said that would have never even crossed my mind being a problem. For example - We had some “rules” laid out before starting the relationship which were to always have our phone facing up and never talking to the opposite sex unless it was for work. Rules all fine with me and it was great that we talked about guild lines. However when we went to go see fireworks he had actually gone under a railing to an area meant for ticket holders w…
