Heh. I "joke proposed" (this was in the first few months of our relationship and it was very clear that it was a joke) to my ex girlfriend in the front of a supermarket with a 25 cent ring from one of those kids vending machines. She loved it, and wore that ring every day until it was completely worn out and no longer wearable. It's the thought that counts IMO.
