r/mensrights has a long history of banning people for disagreement. Moreover, these bans overwhelmingly target feminists while privileging misogynist bullshit. The result, predictably, has been an increasingly closed-minded circle-jerk. If you were a n00b here, your misstatement would forgivable, but you've been around long enough that you must either be 1) lying, or 2) brainwashed. Selective banning has greatly contributed to the infamous nastiness of this subreddit,

While we've largely been supplanted by r/SRS' superior trolling and hilarity, r/AMR has had a few pretty big successes: most notably, pressuring your top mod into stepping down and appointing a more liberal successor, and connecting the dots between MRA bigotry and misogynist hate crimes and terrorism.

You do realize there are multiple "waves" of feminism right? yes This is addressing how 1st and 2nd wave feminism would be more of a woman's rights activist, and a 3rd wave feminist is the one portrayed in the picture. evidence? It makes perfect sense if you aren't a complete moron able to make connections. so you're trolling? If you want me to group all feminists together, then I'm also going to associate every feminist with the man haters like the SCUM advocates, and the women in the private r…

It's hardly an invention to equate feminism and women's rights. You MRAs have lemminged yourselves so far off the logic cliff you're not even debatable anymore. Fucking sad. You used to be fun.

You guys realize that "feminism" and women's rights" are synonymous, right? You can't just invent false distinctions and expect them to make sense in the real world. Oh right . . . that's exactly what you do.

If you were, then we'd be allies. I encourage you to move in that direction. The whole transphobic/white-rights/ultra-reactionary wing of the MRM needs to be shut down. Now.

Just look at the last few months: you went from being the most feared bullies on reddit to laughingstocks fading fast into irrelevance. Meanwhile, the r/amr mods you wrongly assumed to be obsessed with MRA antics are organizing #occupywallstreet. Our strategy worked: distracting you from disrupting our communities allowed us to organize for real social and economic justice. And whether you realize it yet or not, you will benefit from what we have created.

It's not a "natural quality" of straight white men to dominate discourse -- it's a socialized trait symptomatic of systemic social inequality.

I'm curious why people think white male opinions will marginalize anything to begin with? The problem of men -- especially straight white and otherwise privileged men -- dominating discourse is common, even in activist circles. It happens all the time.

r/againstagainstmens rights was admin-banned within hours of its inception -- but only because it's users were doxing the r/amr mods. If the admins were banning subreddits for misogyny, r/mr would have been axed long ago.

You don't see a double standard in banning one user for making a tenuous accusation of pedophilia, but supporting another user for making tenuous accusations of child abuse? To an outsider looking in, it looks like you're giving preferable treatment to extremest MRAs.

These comments are fucking disgusting. I don't usually hate things, but I do hate r/mensrights and the authors that wrote these comments. Their sociopathic lack of care for sexual assault victims generally, especially when MRAs of all people should know that both men and women can be sexually assaulted, is really amazing to me. The amount of straw men and logical fallacies that I found in these comments from just the first run through was utterly stunning. In my mind, these people are worse than…

/AMR is a subreddit organizing against MRA bigotry -- banning MRAs is a basic expression of our freedoms of speech and association. The MRA movement to attack those freedoms is truly totalitarian.

Yesterday, 2 of your 3 hottest posts were about r/AMR -- everyone who's active here knows that. Hell, even now, your hottest post is about r/AMR. Evil punditry or not, it's pretty obvious that most of you guys just can't take criticism.
/r/MensRights22/08/11 08:12 PM
-3

If you wish to talk about "victim-mentality," please explain why yesterday's top post to r/mensrights was an MRA whining about being banned from r/AMR (an event so routine as to approach banality).
/r/MensRights22/08/11 08:02 PM

r/AMR was created to help defend reddit from the flood of trolls and downvote brigades that stream from r/mensrights. We have not taken "this rivalry to a new level of dirty tactics," we have finally and vocally stood up against MRA bullying. And ultimately, that's why you can't ignore us. Because you're bullies, and the last thing a bully can abide is a target of their bullying standing up for themselves.
/r/MensRights22/08/11 06:26 PM

The fact that the /mr frontpage is dominated by submissions about /amr proves one our of basic arguments against the "men's rights movement": that the MRM is not a political movement fighting for gender equality; it is an anti-feminist attack squad that would rather play ForumWars™ than address real-world human rights issues.
/r/MensRights22/08/11 02:22 PM
-4

Our best bet is to ignore them and remain vigilant in using our downvote/upvote buttons to keep extremist voices away from our movement (whether they be racist, homophobic, mysandric or misogynistic). The rest of your "rant" is paranoid and absurd, but this is pretty good advice.

r/amr was created as a defense against r/mr harassment -- it does not engage in harassment (or hit lists, or hate speech, or anything of the kind). So dismount from your high fucking horse, and quit with the defamation, harassment, and hypocrisy. Isn't it true that you created and used the sockpuppet account "truth_insert" to stalk and harass another redditor? And didn't you delete that account immediately after that sockpuppet was discovered?
/r/MensRights13/08/11 05:19 AM

the mods of r/MR don't use their position to impose their views on the rest of us by way of censorship. Bullshit. I'm forced to used an alt account here precisely because my views were censored by the mods here. Many of the r/amr mods were banned without ever even posting in r/mr. More so, as you guys attack us, you actually decrease the chance that we'd be able to address the legitimate problems within r/MR Actually, no. The "free" market abhors both individual and collective rights. That's why, collectively, a lot of fucking individuals are fucking poor right now. You can downvote me, or you can explain how an economic system dependent on poverty benefits men, or more importantly, people.

Yes. Fact is not the same as acceptance. We have accepted earth as flat, men as superior to women and races inequal. That does not make them true. Are you seriously asking for evidence that women are oppressed? Feminism has been the sole authority on gender-issues and -interaction for the last ~30 years. If that were true, the ERA would have passed. If feminism were the only voice on gender politics, then we wouldn't constantly be fighting to defend women's reproductive rights. I could go on and…

Denying the existence of patriarchy =/= women face no oppression An MRA explaining partriarchy is like a creationist explaining evolution. But nice try throwing the racism card out there. Hey look, I can do it too! I encourage you to click some of those links. What you'll find is something you'll never find in the men's rights movement: introspection, self-criticism, and a willingness to address racism within the movement.

Just looking at our posts will show someone that r/mensrights is very friendly towards LGBT and women. Like this post?
/r/MensRights29/07/11 08:18 AM

Patriarchy theory has never been proven as fact. Excuse me? Outside MRA circles, the historical and present-day oppression of women is universally accepted. Similarly, outside racist circles, the Holocaust is universally accepted.

Are we trying to dismantle your movement, or are we trying to shame you into addressing the misogyny, racism, and other bigotry infesting your movement?
/r/MensRights29/07/11 07:01 AM

Avoiding the semantic argument, since modern Germany embraces the idea that the Holocaust happened, and since the typical definition involves Germans committing crimes against humanity, it should be argued that Germans who buy into such ideology do, in fact, loathe themselves for crimes they must have committed. Since I do not buy into the idea of a Holocaust, I'm not burdened by such accusations, and I therefore do no loathe myself for imaginary reasons.
/r/MensRights29/07/11 06:40 AM

And I'm banned from r/mensrights for opposing the MRM. What's your point?
/r/MensRights27/07/11 09:17 PM

Kick the racists and misogynists out of your movement. Until then we'll oppose you, because you're feeding hate to madmen.

to everyone downvoting me: Because this is a new account (made necessary by MRA censorship), your downvotes significantly restrict my ability to present the non-MRA perspective in this forum. Are any of these moderators men? sodypop and yellowmix identify as male. I would have no problem if rantgrrl, ma99ie, or girlwriteswhat wanted to be mods...because they've shown themselves to be reasonable, intelligent, and they actually support MR. I nominate rantgrrl, ma99ie, and girlwriteswhat for mod. Can we count on your support?
