Agreed! I thought the receptionist was a very funny way to approach a traditionally flat character. The dripping sarcasm and attitude even worked as a clever foil to the earnestness of the main characters in a lot of scenes. As funny as Hemsworth was, his character didn't deliver any of that nuance (and oh god the dance montages).

Yeah, I must admit, I don't think I've really mastered it just yet. I can sort of get it with the attitude (took a month or so to feel comfortable), but in conversation I'm still not 100% on it. Striking the balance with apathy always does seem like the tricky bit. I think you're onto something that most of the benefit for me is in the confidence.

not OP, but I had a similar experience. For me, it was actually a combination of the classic don't give a fuck and/or "no pressure" scenario, and going for it. It's really weird when you do it the first little while, but if you get the hang of it, it works a treat for me.
