Diamond is a perfect example of how the intellectual Marxist paradigm changed the foundation of social sciences. I started reading his book, Guns Germs and Steel and had to put it down about half way through because it was so horrible and transparently anti-western. It was a big issue at the Seneca Falls Conference and was stated in their "Declaration of Sentiments." "He has so framed the laws of divorce, as to what shall be the proper causes of divorce, in case of separation, to whom the guardianship of the children shall be given; as to be wholly regardless of the happiness of the women—the law, in all cases, going upon a false supposition of the supremacy of a man, and giving all power into his hands." 1	Children in same-sex families. How do they fare as adults? All the same sex parents (all male BTW) do a bang up job taking care of their kids and their kids all behave better than mine does. 1	North Carolina pilot program to simplify alimony when couples divorce They did this in NY recently too. It's basically a trade - less lifetime alimony, but many more alimony awards. My guess is that alimony judgements varied so widely is because the judges used to be able to take context into account. That is, did he cheat? Did she actually work the same career all the way through the marriage, but just earns less? Was she a SAHM mom for years? 1	Child support question There may be a requirement for her to sign a waiver stating she doesn't want child support. I know that exists in NY state. If there is, make sure she signs it so it doesn't come back to haunt you later, ie you owe several years of CS because there was no formal declination on her part. Again check with a lawyer.
