In every single experience, I've run into men like this, it's projection of their own self hatred - because they hate themselves. If every man thought the thoughts they thought, they'd be justified in that hatred. 🙏🏼

So, what services would a PCP refuse for a man? Like, while it doesn't explicitly say "this is to discriminate against the gays and women." the "moral issues" they would have issues with would primarily impact these groups. I swear /r/Mensrights can be purposefully obtuse sometimes. "But it doesn't technically say that in the law!" Yeah, no shit - neither do plenty of other laws historically, but they've effectively been used for discrimination purposes.

Equating "periods make women act poorly" literally feeds into the trope you're complaining about. You're stating it as a fact - rather than "Certain women use it as an excuse for their behavior" which is absolutely true. Nevermind the reality that there are syndromes like PCOS and other conditions that put them in immense amounts of pain, which while not an excuse, can be a reason for a bad mood is totally lost on you. Grow up.
/r/MensRights07/04/23 07:01 PM

I must hate women because i associated her period with her unbearable bitchy attitude. Uh, yeah. That's kind of textbook misogyny. Same with women making the excuse that being on their period excuses that behavior.

Honestly? The left community is something I actively avoid. I'll never be right wing because they actively campaign against so many issues I care about - but when the left always eats itself and constantly prioritizes the dumbest shit - I can't interact with it. The concept of a "safe space" is the idea that we can discuss ideas without personal attacks and snap judgments. They've turned it into a "who can pretend to be offended first" in literally any left leaning space. It's exhausting

Bodily autonomy is a right we should all have - including the ability to sign away parental rights if you don't want to be a father. That being said, the reason the state won't do that - is because it's in their interest to put the financial responsibility on another individual vs the state of supporting a single mother. If you actually want the ability to sign away parental rights, we also have to consider the need for supporting single parents from the state imo.

Sounds like this person has mental health issues. If there are cameras in the lobby, then check to see what the laws are in your area. You may be able to record if there's already recording elsewhere taking place. Also, some states have exceptions to one party recording laws - such as - if you're attempting to obtain evidence of a crime being committed. "I think everyone should be taught about giving and receiving consent." If they push back, note that while reported assaults happen more frequently to women, men are assaulted too and you support everyone learning how to negotiate sexual encounters.

There is no reason for men to prefer dying as virgins If you can't get laid, maybe this "I want to force women into patriarchies for my personal benefit" ain't working out and you should shift gears.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/01/23 04:00 PM

The point is that premodern societies ensured all men had sex. You have a source for such a weird claim? Considering marriage as an institution isn't universal, and there's been a large swath of societies outside of that construct. Also - marriage back then was often very one sided towards men, so like... if that's the part you are lamenting - where you are sad society no longer provides you with an unjust construct of engaging with women, I got a small violin for you to play.

Idk, I've been a virgin my whole life and I don't feel like I've missed out on too much by not having sex or a romantic relationship Sounds like you might have different motivating factors then - you should consider shifting your outlook towards having those kinds of desires to have a broader understanding. I do think social isolation in general can cause a lot of suffering and diminished opportunities on par with financial poverty. I would agree here though - a lot of men focus on getting their…

I mean, when you base your entire argument on a misunderstanding of the economic goals of a left wing agenda, the meanings of words are kind of important. So I'm not sure why you'd say that was pedantic beyond having the foundation of your argument fall apart. It's all about meeting each other's mutual wants/needs. I mean, if you think the construct of marriage is inherent of male sexuality and that sexuality is about trapping a woman in a sexual dynamic, then yeah man. That's kind of gross. It's not about trapping - it's about long term consent of that dynamic - you can end a marriage at any time.

While it's against the spirit of the law, it should highlight the sexism and injustice of child custody, not be a slight against trans issues.

First of all, it's not equality it's equity. it's not about having things equal, but having a set standard of living accessible. Also, you seem to look at marriage as trapping a sexual dynamic as if that's the end all of a relationship dynamic, which is pretty gross. Also, as if marriage doesn't have the same dynamics - wealth, looks, natural ability in play as part of the decision to get married. If you aren't getting laid by those same standards, why would a person marry you? This framework al…

The issue is the state. Sexual and monetary freedom. Women should be able to do what they want with their bodies, but if a man doesn't want a kid (unplanned) - they should be able to opt our of parental responsibilities including financial support.

It's an issue of bodily autonomy. The issue is, we have the state unjustly force a financial burden on men. Just look at some of these responses that sound exactly like pro-life arguments. Personally I think parenthood should be an opt in process. If a man is willing to be a father, then once they opt in legally binding, outside of finding out the child isn't his, they should be on the hook for child support. Until then, it should be based on the ideal of bodily autonomy, the woman's responsibil…

Because they're talking about women's deaths, when comparatively, men in much greater numbers die during that time period. Thus - it shows an unequal valuation of life. Right? Such a weird appeal to authority. "Hey man, I didn't make the rules." Yeah, but somebody did and that's the whole point of men's rights. It's hard to understand. I'm sure there's absolutely those who jump on it because it's a trend. If you've never had to question your expression of you gender, it can be a difficult thing to put yourself in. I can explain it really well. So - if we talk about "trans" it implies that you think yourself more comfortable as a different gender the opposite of the binary based on your biological sex. Gender expression is the understood mainstream expression of gender. Behavior, dress, job, etc. Non-binary or netural would imply a purposeful or questioning nature of where you fall on that spectrum. Ie - "I don't feel comfortable with either gender expression inherently." Some may say they're a Tom boy or …

That's the problem here buddy. If we're talking about "who makes the decision to birth a child" it's entirely on the woman. If you use the argument "they knew the potential consequences" you're using the same logic as anti-choice advocates.

If they establish they don't want to be a father? Yes. With the reality that women should control their bodily autonomy - they need to take the responsibility of their actions. Until that happens - child support for unwanted children is a stop gap. That being said - child support for children who were planned or wanted is still a reasonable construct when applied in the best interests of the child. Although reforms should be considered there too to be more gender netural as our family courts sti…

I mean, I think there's a lot of room for improvement around how we set expectations around pregnancy and parental rights. Having an opt-in fatherhood with paternal clauses protects the rights of the father and freely available family planning services protects the rights of the mother. We have to rethink how we determine parental rights and what's an acceptable norm. We've done it before and we can do it again. In regards to raising taxes for supporting single parents? I mean, if we make aborti…

Sorry to hear that. I've found that splitting common living expenses equitible to the amount of money you make and having the left overs as personal money often works well. I make more than my wife, so I pay more. It makes it so she's not broke all the time. It'd be different if she was just a roommate, but it works out well.
/r/MensRights19/05/19 01:48 PM

I mean, you'd have been able to as well? It's what you make of it. I run a polyamory group in the Boston area and there's definitely those types of dynamics. Personally though and something I encourage, my wife and I have explict agreements around our expectations for each other - including around money. Hopefully you can make the best of this opportunity to find someone who fits your relationship expectations better.
/r/MensRights19/05/19 01:39 PM

Nothing wrong with being polyamorous, but there's also nothing wrong with not wanting to have your relationship with her in that kind of dynamic. Relationships need to serve the people within it. If it wasn't to your liking - then you absolutely should have left. Unfortunately some people within polyamory don't understand it as a consent issue.

We should allow abortions nationwide but revamp child support only for children with established relationships and agreed upon circumstances. Forcing men into indentured wage garnishment based on the decision of another person to birth a child is only to take the burden off of the state.

Yes - it does, because of it's use in media. The headline doesn't mention the victim was 10 and with the genders reversed - they much more often (but not always) call it rape. The issue is the double standard in our media landscape.

Honestly? There's progress on both sides, the issue is - we both had our issues. We've spent the past 60 focused on women's issues and not men partly because of the concept of patriarchy. Why would men have problems if they're in power? Focused on women attaining male roles in society because women didn't have power, when instead the reality was both had positives and weaknesses. One point I love to make is, if we talk about power. A big definition of that is the ability to easily exhibit agency…

If a person drinks at a bar drunk and goes home with another person, then no. I'm talking about intent here. I'm talking about using alcohol to get a person to the point they're blind drunk. Man, you all are really enjoying playing straw man.

I have an issue with it in any instances. Nor am I advocating laws because I understand the difficulty of providing evidence. Last time I checked though, morality isn't dependent on laws.
/r/MensRights29/05/18 02:31 PM
1

Incapacitating someone to the point they're no longer able to consent is rape. We're talking about intent here. It's not something mean, it's something immoral. I don't need laws to inform my morality. There's nothing wrong with a drunk hookup, but if you interact with people in a way to encourage heavy drug use to illicit sexual interactions, it's a little more than mean.
/r/MensRights29/05/18 02:11 PM

If you think that in a state of inebriation that continuing to pressure someone to continue to consume alcohol after they've already refused is perfectly acceptable in order to turn a no into a yes - that's quite alarming.
/r/MensRights29/05/18 12:55 PM
1

How is that possible? Easy. Someone turns down a drink but you convince them after they refuse to continue drinking due to their lowered inhibitions. If you are making the drinks, telling them the drinks are not as strong as you actually make them to trick them into drinking more than they intended. I absolutely believe in personal responsibility when people purposefully drink. Although to say the only way people can take advantage of someone is by literally forcing them to drink totally ignores…

Nah, I do. There's a difference between knowingly drinking to lower your inhibitions and having someone use those lowered inhibitions to get another person to drink to excess to not be in control of their facilities. There are absolutely instances of alcohol being used for rape where accountability should be had.

"benefits from herd immunity." that not how it works. Guns aren't a vaccine. Comparing them as such implies that those who carry guns are willing to put themselves in harms way if someone is acting in a disturbed fashion.
/r/MensRights24/02/18 04:50 PM
1

And that's the problem, it's not a "masculine" trait. If a woman sacrifices herself for somebody - did they act like a man or act brave? The inherent idea that you have to be anything to be a man is the problem. Be a decent person to be a decent person. Even then, decent doesn't require me to sacrifice myself for another person.

It's not that masculinity is toxic, it's that your definition that men should be armed and inherently falls into the defender role. Context is important - the context here is the abuse of authority in a teacher/student dynamic. Should a 16 year old be able sleep with a 20ish year old? I think there's an argument to be made for it - but when you also have to think about the ease of the abuse of power dynamics, we as a society shouldn't make excuses for that.

That's just not true - at all. As someone who's been sexually assaulted, reported to police, identified the person, who they are where they lived, when it happened - and then got no traction, that's just not true. It's very difficult to be taken seriously that you've been sexually assaulted by police, it's even more so as a guy. (as I'm well aware of)
/r/MensRights30/10/17 04:06 AM

Alright - so you report the crime. Then the police goes "you don't know who it was" and you confirm that and... That's it. Oh totally! I know some absolutely rational people who identify as feminists. I'm dating a couple (I'm polyamorous). I don't doubt that you and others have real equality in mind. The issue aren't those who have completely rational ideas of gender roles and dynamics - it's those who make policy that unfairly impact men and their lives while supporting women unjustly. When they hold the institutions of power and use rational even keeled feminists to speak for them it's frustrating.

I'd like to phrase it in a different way. Feminism works in a similar way in a dogmatic fashion to religion in terms of various idealogies. You can see it especially when you disavow being a feminist - "if you're for the rights of women - you're a feminist." You can see it also in how it influences public policy. In how it removes the definition of female on male rape from the cdc "made to penetrate" to lessen the statistics on male victims. In how the major domestic violence law is called the "…

...You do understand that they're being facetious right? Like - most people here understand that men aren't allowed to express feelings genuinely. It comes from the issue of men being disposable and the expectation of sacrifice. The feelings of obligation are strong - and it's re-enforced everywhere. The point I'm making that - the idea of patriarchy has a fatal flaw - that as opinions have changed over the years - it no longer holds true that those in power have the opinion that women are unable or incapable of holding positions of power. The idea is male dominance of men over women. The issue is - it takes the ideas of class which is legitimate and tries to force men into those roles of power - all men, not just "men in power." It also ignores women in power. I'd much rather be a upper income woman than a lower income male any day of the week. Seriously man, I'm saying "be thoughtful of others." It's not saying "don't ever touch anyone without their permission ever." I understand there absolutely social situations where touching someone is permissible. Handshake, hug, kiss on the cheek depending on the culture. I'm trying to impart that tickling while it can be fun horseplay, is more intense than the previously mentioned contact and you should think about it. That's all.

It's nice to know you go around touching people however you please. Seriously man, stop assuming other people have your comfort level with casual contact. Not that you should never touch anyone ever, but tickling is actually a lot more than an arm around a shoulder. It's not that you're causing harm, but you could sure make them uncomfortable and Yeah - tickling is a fight or flight response releasing endorphins. For long periods of time it can create a endorphin high and cause sub drop.

Well - tickling is a common form of horseplay that can be complicated in terms of consent. I do tickle play in a BDSM context and even when someone wants it, they're still saying no because it's triggering a fight or flight response. So while it's often perfectly fine between people, it does have a context of encouragement of doing something even when you say no.

Regardless of the consequences of procreation - the president it sets for bodily anatomy is difficult to ignore. If you have the state controlling what I'd dependant on you for life, that can lead to a lot of bad circumstances. If there wasn't a lot of soul/religious grounds around the issue you would think the right/libertarian wings of politics would support the government not being able to restrict the right to choose.

It's hard to talk about cheating because I've never been technically been cheated on. I'm very much about honesty. If you drill down to the act of cheating, it's more about the breach of trust than the act of getting off. They can use a vibrator to get off, it's the act of having rules set in a relationship dynamic and the other person breaking said rules. Inaction and action are morally similar imo, because it's your decision to leads to such a result. Even still this is a flawed argument in terms of abortion because you're the one pulling the lever. While I agree you shouldn't have anything to do with these people, remember that often they're lead to believe they're doing the right thing. When you drive a car you also run the risk of an accident. Same with having sex. Again, what makes the obligation of providing their body to support the life of another that wouldn't extend in other situations?
/r/MensRights08/08/14 06:15 PM
1

So in the same logic, being given that the action taken causes an obligation to give up bodily agency, if one was to cause an accident and they needed your body to save the others involved the the crash, they should have the right to do so? In the same regard, it's an action taken by an individual that causes a person's life to be obligated to be used to save another.

No, pedophiles are interested in pre-pubescent features of children. A sixteen year old would be well into puberty. While still arguably wrong, especially because of the abuse of power, does not make her a pedophile. While not illegal, If both parties are above the age of consent it's still frowned upon to have relationships in areas where power structures are present, such as an employer to employee.

Why do people continue? Ego? Feeling insulted? They like to watch people flail about? I'm guilty of it at times with people who obviously wouldn't change their minds with evidence right on front of them. A couple of times I've had people separately talk about the discussion later and say how they agreed with me. Although part of the issue is that because of that overlap you have to have some support. It's why the idea of feminism falls short. They talk about abolishing gender roles but in the goal of "equality" only focus on women's roles. The reason you have men's rights groups is because when you had male allies question feminism about the singular focus on women and how that wouldn't bring equality, they were cast out. It's why we have this large imbalance of gender roles today. If you only focus on …

It doesn't matter if they're a minority. So are minority men, so are gay men. If we are to hold the opinion that trans men are men then their issues are our issues. Does it have to be your priority? No, although to say it's not an issue of the movement in general is a bad place to be. It's the same problem with feminists being mostly for white middle class college educated women. MRA is to help men of all walks of life. That includes trans men either MtoF or FtoM. Does it have to be a priority for everyone? No, of course not. Does it have to be something we support? Yes. Totally. It isn't supporting something beyond men's rights if you believe those to be trans who identify as male to be male.

I dislike this argument because it's exactly the same I get when I talk about men's issues with feminists as if they're less of an issue. While different people can put priority of issues they're passionate about saying "I'm not going to care about them until mine are take care of" is the best way to fraction the support of men's rights.

Think of this in the non western world. In the middle east, the economy is often bad enough that two income households are looked down upon. A woman taking a job is taking a job from a man who has a social obligation to support his household where a woman does not. Women's rights in this country has largely been supported by a booming economy. If there are enough jobs to be filled, then that might change, you can look at China or other countries for this. Although... In China, where a man has an…

The arguement would be about gender representation in media in general. Why should you care? Because while it isn't a direct link of influencing people, it's a mirror to the culture it's coming from. IE Such as the idea that violence is okay against men, but not against women. The discussion of the art a culture produces should be discussed as it's a measuring stick of changing tides of popular opinion and cultural change.

Regarding the soccer player, you don't have a responsibility to save his life. While it may be a nice thing to do, it's not an obligation. The will of others has no direct control over me. Regardless, of when a fetus is considered alive, the question is do I have the right to force another to bring another life into the world? To me, the answer is no. Up vote for asking questions! The issue is, while there are bigger fish to fry, ignoring a glaring sexist policy as we fight for equal rights regardless of gender sends a message that can dissuade those who may be allies in the cause of true equality!

I doubt it, but the first step is don't confuse feminism and women's rights. The main issue with feminism isn't that they're about women's rights, it's most that I've talked to don't see an obligation to fight for equality from a male perspective. For true equality, you have to push from both sides. While some might be traditionalist, I think a majority here are exploring the ideas of the unjust treatment left behind as the old way of doing things crumbles away. IE, men expected to "man up" in t…

That's the thing though. What defines feminism? Individuals or groups of individuals? While individual feminists can have the idea of being for true equality, the real changes take place with groups in political pressures. It's here where you see many issues take place in terms of the idea that you have women's groups actively taking stances against the rights of men. Such as in family court, divorce court with the idea the women need to be protected (alimony) or they are the better parent (cust…

Not individual feminists but feminism as an ideology. While most here believe in an egalitarian society, I think most mras don't believe that those who fully give themselves to the idea of women first can truly bring about the change needed for an true equality between sexes.

Well, I think part of the issues is that the statistic is usually "rapes and sexual assault" and sexual assault can been seen as a very broad term. If you're accounting 60-52% of cases are in that grey area, you can't just count them all or discount them all. They have to be considered in the data, even if it's just a side note. Well, the idea of "grey" claims are they rape may or may not have happened. It's hard to make the case to leave them in or out of the statistic, because we can never really know if the rape happened or not. There are plenty of words that could convey the context that have the meaning you're looking for without using abnormal. Unusual, Atypical, Uncommon. There are words that fall on the idea of not good or bad, good and bad. There is a difference between third wave and second wave feminism. There is also a difference between "a patriarchy" and "the patriarchy". There is also a difference between the idea of parts of culture that can lead to a positive view of rape and a rape culture. Both of these latter at least in second wave often puts the male in the default position of being the rapist/oppressor. While I'll agree that third wave helps, I consider myself a proponent of women's rights, as I read more on feminism …

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I think with the protection toward bisexual men, DV against men has to be talked about, as it would cover Woman on Man violence as bisexual men often have both types of relationships in their lifetime.

You can still phrase it better to play politics. "Feminism is bankrupting society, or how everyone should be a Men's Rights supporter" "As our society changes, are our men being left behind?" or something like that. This still questions feminism goals without directly calling them out.
/r/MensRights13/02/13 06:13 PM

While that might be good for internal club debate, you've got to play politics with student government.

Find free copiers. Clubs in their first year often don't hold a budget. Keep topics educational and focused on issues men face rather than a place to complain about women and feminists. If you want to get anywhere, It's about being critical about determined conclusions about feminism, not "Feminism is evil!"

Quick reply, when you see most victim / rape crisis centers primarily for women it's a perceived that men = abusers / women = abused.

Or it was the same price and they charge women slightly less (it's really only 2 dollars) to give the perception of value to bring more women into the club. While I'll agree it's an issue, when a business is about making money and men are willing to pay, it's a sad truth that a business will take advantage of it. Again the solution is to not give your business.

In feminist theory yes, although in terms of the law direct services equal protection must apply to all sex, race, sexual orientation and identity. Also the inclusion of bisexual men would protect woman on man violence.

Looks like I didn't answer. Male head of household, makes a lot of problems for both genders. It makes the male a success object, it also makes the woman the care taker. It forces men into positions the society that they may not want or be ready to take. It's the idea that men are strong, women are weak, the idea that men shouldn't show feelings. The wage gap that is perceived is part of the issue because it's expected that women take more time off, that they get maternity leave. If you removed …

The difference between the idea of privilege and the isms is that isms usually have negative results towards the person while privilege has positive results. The idea of a power structure is needed for both ideas. As the one in the society that is seen "in power" they can be racist and have privilege that the "in power" status affords them. The idea of racism according to some is that those who are oppressed cannot be guilty of racism but only victims while those in power can only be racist and …

"The west" if I'm not mistaken usually refers to Western Europe, Canada and the US. I think the term you're looking for is industrialized culture. The Japanese as a culture (and in most countries that don't have a mix of nationalities) often single out other races more often. It's racism how you said they were very polite, but this stems from the view that you don't know their culture and are more polite and willing to excuse the slights you may cause them.

Just because certain feminists use patriarchy as a conspiracy theory doesn't mean that a form of it doesn't exist. Also there isn't a "biological" patriarchy. That term alone really makes me question where your coming from on this. Patriarchy is real and the effects of it are real on society. It when you start blaming "the patriarchy" vs a patriarchy when it becomes a problem.

Patriarchy is totally enforced by women as well. Although then it's the idea (for extreme feminists) that it's somehow men's fault to that this happens because why would we want equality when we can be oppressing women? So we teach it to them. eye roll

Patriarchy is something that exists. The idea that men are the head of households and lots of gender based issues do stem from this belief. One part is there seems to be this idea that men actively try to keep society this way. (which is bad by default, the two people in a household should make a decision on power structures) An issue is that there are these mental exercises feminists make that try to blame everything on it. The other issue I find that trying to explain to men that are disenfran…

A majority opinion does not make something moral or immoral. Although speaking out against it is proactive and something people who disagree with the action should do. Shaming people who do such actions is something they should do. Although one thing they shouldn't do is provide information that allows people to be vigilantist. The people taking these photos aren't posting where these women live. I totally agree with tit for a tat, not tit for a carpet bombing.

Blame: Assign responsibility for a fault or wrong. The idea of A causes B. That's "Blame." I'm not blaming them for having creepy people take their photos. Blame would be: "If they didn't want their picture taking they dress the way they do / look the way they do / go out in public." It's the idea that something is in their control about the behavior of other people, which it's not. I'm saying that it's a way to be proactive towards unwanted attention, just as much as telling someone they don't …

yes it is immoral to take someone's photo without their permission and to post it on the internet for the purpose of leching on them or laughing at them or anything else which they would not like "For the purpose of leching on them or laughing at them or anything else which they would not like." By your definition, it is immoral to take someone's picture in public. Besides the idea that we're debating, saying "Anything else which they would not like." puts an unrealistic burden on the photo taker. That line of thinking isn't just unrealistic, it's a dangerous one. What actual harms comes from these photos that would cause these actions to be immoral?

I would say yes it is immoral to take someone's photo without their permission and to post it on the internet for the purpose of leching on them or laughing at them or anything else which they would not like That's naive. Hey everybody! A 20 year old female college student doesn't understand equality! I showed her! Seriously through, it's not "reverse sexism" it's sexism. Next time you talk about the situation, try bringing up fairness in the law. Such as in situations of sexual molestation, child custody and divorces. Tell her to try to ask to sign up for selective service to potentially die for her country. Once you point out these obvious issues, agree that society is sexist, but it is in both directions. Usua…

Yet again was in reference to the fact that every reply I've seen so far has put words in my mouth. I've found that as time has gone on, females are being more and more included in games. This may lead certain communities creating more rules or having stricter enforcement as to not label it "guys only." I haven't said that women in gaming would bring about anything. Of course there will be assholes anywhere in any type of social situation, but that doesn't mean that as a person I can try to hold…

Yet again, this isn't something I typed. I didn't say they were better, but that because of inclusion of females in said guilds and communities some leaders may have created additional rules and conduct because of their presence. If you want to be taken seriously by a majority of women in a community in where you game that you have a defined persona, you should act in a fashion that isn't taken as being an asshole in a reasonable fashion regardless of gender. Should male gamers change their behavior? If they want to be taken seriously by a majority of women, yes.
