I used to do a lot of mentoring because of my past work. Interestingly, the kids I mentored years ago have all grown up into their 20s and 30s now and are all close friends that I hang out and go to movies and have dinner with. In a way, I grew my own friends by having input into their lives while they were still young and forming their ideas about life. It might be something you want to consider.

If you have a job and are self sufficient, you can always apply for emancipation. At 16 you could be legally declared an adult and get an apartment, etc. You have to do it through the court but it does NOT require parental approval. It’s initiated by the minor and decided by the judge.

Finish selecting customizations on the house I’m having built. Making sure the floorplan excludes his and hers closets - no double sinks - masculine colors. Then I’m going to make a pot roast because it takes zero effort and makes the house smell amazing and then head out to go see a movie or go to the gun range. Maybe play some video games later in the evening with my friends that always hang with me on the weekends.

This seems to be a more predominantly UK phenomenon. My dad and I were visiting the UK together when I was a young teen and we got the same treatment (minus police but lots of questioning). Never had that happen in the States. UK is wound too tightly over such issues.
