If it's going to be a baby fertilization usually has to happen in the tube, If the sperm wait to get it in the uterus then the egg is likely to die/become inactive before it either reaches sperm or implants. I'd asume the tube is bigger for the woman too since eggs are much bigger than sperm. There are devices that kill sperm that are implanted in the uterus... Another correlation might be due to the fact that because women are more likely to win custody when the father does win custody it is because he is a damn good father.
