This right here. At the end of the day, your daughter will remember you not being there. This is about her. Put whatever feelings you have aside and make sure her day is super special.

Thanks for this. It’s what I plan on doing.

Yes. There are other gyms. Keep busy and just avoid stuff that is painful. Good luck!

Time will be your friend. I’m sorry you’re going through this, but over time it goes away. 2 years divorced I feel it a bit but not as much. You’re not alone. Lose yourself in something. Stay really busy and book up your days with tasks. Try to stay out of your own head and over time you won’t be feeling this way. I recommend reading How To Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. It’s helped me a lot.

I went inpatient as well. You’ll come out the other side a way better man after all of this. Be open minded, get vulnerable, and put the work in. Best of luck!

Here’s the thing: what would knowing if they were spooked actually change? Would you just not try? Or is there something else you had in mind? I personally don’t know anyone who would care, and I know plenty of people in different age ranges. But really, there isn’t anything you can do about it either way, so just go into things as your whole-ass self and find a good woman! The right one won’t care!

You have no control over if they are turned off by it or not. Just don’t hide it and you’ll find the right person.

Nah, if I can do it at 41 you are totally fine for 28. Kids is usually the dealbreaker.

I feel you. 41 with 2 kids. But I met a lovely woman after divorce who is okay with my baggage. It took time, though, because I needed to be okay being alone before being with someone else.

This is a classic cry for help mixed with a power struggle. It’s sad that it happens in so many relationships.

This is nature vs. nurture, not biology. Women can be raised that way, but not all of them are.

Accepting the reality and moving on is super important. But just because she wants a divorce doesn’t make her right. She sounds weak. Sure, he experiences anxiety, but you don’t just give up on your marriage because of it. She should have supported him and not weaponize it against him because she’s unable to own her own shit.

Also, and this is really important to remember, you are not your anxiety. “I have anxiety” isn’t the healthiest way to look at it. You are person who simply experiences anxiety and that’s a totally different thing. As someone who experiences it as well, it’s a helpful reminder. She sounds like a person that uses your experiences against you as a way to not own her own shit. Weaponizing it is also really fucked up. That’s not someone you want to be with.

I said this in a comment response and I will say it here because I disagree with what had been said by others. Be yourself. Your whole ass self. You shouldn’t change who you are because someone else isn’t emotionally strong enough to be with you. You will find a woman one day who respects you for who you are and supports you. Sure, continue to work on yourself, it’s wildly important because we can always be better people, but never hold back from saying how you feel.

You’re not broken and you’re not alone. I still feel the same way from time to time. There were a few books that I read that really changed my life, maybe they can help you too: Untethered Soul by Michael Singer How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie The Courage to Be Disliked by Fumitake Koga and Ichiro Kishimi One quote that stood out was “you can’t saw sawdust.” What’s done is done and all we can do is move forward and change what we have actually have control over. This is an…

Read Untethered Soul by Michael Singer and then keep as busy as humanly possible. Just stay busy, you’ll have no time to stew in your anger. This will pass and you’ll get a ton of shit done in the process.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
