As an example, perhaps your girlfriend pesters you for sex and you don't really want to do it but you still consent for the sake of the relationship. NHS web info on Circumcision indicates that circumcision is not advocated except in "extremely rare" cases, and "other treatments are preferred." Nonetheless it appears that medically necessary, routine, and religious circumcision are all legal. (Simply not provided by the NHS in general or advocated by them).

I saw another comment today on r/mensrights which claimed that modern FGM is most commonly just a pinprick (which fully heals) and that the most extreme forms of FGM and MGM are both quite rare (unlike the moderate disfigurement of Western 'medical' circumcision) Can anyone with better info/background on this comment?
