well, as a guy who has previously been involved with ladies with children, I can tell you that not all of them are looking to get "settled." Especially if you're up front and honest about what you want out of the relationship. And that's pretty much the point right there. Always be honest about what you want. If you don't know, that's okay too! But don't lie about being there tomorrow, if you only want to stay for today.

Maybe she's trying to determine your value?

That's a different question though. "where are you from" vs. "how does your parentage explain your visual presentation"

Man, sedditors hate a happy ending. ;-) I guess they want more proof? How about the newspaper article? http://www.adn.com/2010/02/13/1138618_love-stories-from-readers-lift.html Oh.. right. https://twitter.com/ak_hepcat/status/390861720899436544

Okay- I asked my >now wife< to marry me after our first date. And I asked because I knew she'd say yes. No, we hadn't consummated yet, yes we'd know each other prior to going out on a date, but hadn't seen each other in 10 years due to living in different states. And we'd both been married, and divorced, and she had a kid. So, yes, you can M-close a date. ;-) (together now 6 years, with a 2yo addition)

Ballsy super escalation reply? "It'll look great on you later tonight..."

"Sorry I didn't get right back to you, I was all tied up." And of course, the other responses are good, too.

Okay, I've written about 10 different responses and erased them all, because they all suck due to the lack of clarity that typing a paragraph on the internet provides. I'm happy that you recognize the line-in-the-sand that turns playful into creepy for you and I wish you all the best luck in the future in whatever ventures you attempt. LLAP

It's not a "push" line. Yes, it could be creepy if delivered wrong, so your objective is to say it in a disarming way, based on the situation. Put another way, this is -an idea- to use, not a literal line to memorize and speak whenever confronted by her prior cue. It's just another tool in your box of tricks. Learn when and where it's useful.

Exactly! Look, be funny, be witty, be charming, be confident. These are all the things that you're being told. You want to learn to be funny and witty? Take some theatre and comedy classes. Study Shakespeare and Improv. Seriously. Put those to use. If you can stand up in front of strangers and make them laugh/cry/emote, then you can do the same one-on-one with a girl you're attracted to.

"I'm so glad that we're becoming friends, then, because you're coming home with me."

My instant-response to reading this phrase: "...makes me wish I had a dick." 'well, miss, you can borrow mine tonight if it'll make you feel better.'

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
