pfff, in college, you don't need any of this shit. after college, things get to be difficult.

very very good article. the reasons are simple. i mean if you convince a girl to come to your home for a dinner, that's the easy part. if you make her even an average meal, have an average bottle of wine, have some average music on, it's still almost a guaranteed great date. Anything above that (great food, great wine, candles, flowers), you're headed to the fucking top.

well i'm speaking strictly about student groups, i have little experience with groups outside of scholarly settings.

If you're looking for group of all women, i'd look for a service sorority. Those tend to be far less social and less tight knit, but just as many chances for leadership experience. Actually, a service sorority at my school has one of the biggest rosters of any group on campus, and the girls i know that are in it really enjoy it. Above all, they aren't the girly girls (well some are), but it's a very diverse group.

in sororities, you are forced to buy certain dresswear, to wear certain pins on certain days, to act a certain way during recruitment, to follow A,B,C,D, etc. Additionally, you are pressured to really change the way you act as well (or at least fit a certain paradigm of behavior). However, in fraternities, you are often highly pressured (and in some more hardcore fraternities) forced to drink and go through some pretty rough initiation stuff. However, in a fraternity, brothers do not feel pressu…

I tried yoga-lates after lifting one day with this in mind (there's gonna be a ton of chicks in here, doesn't seem too tough). Given I was already sore as hell, that class KICKED MY ASS. I was dripping with sweat about ten minutes in and left about half way through. Didn't go as planned. Got to scope some sweet booty though.

ah, well i didn't realize you were a woman. sororities are a whole different game. i strongly believe every guy belongs in a fraternity, but sororities are only for some women. it can be a nightmare for a lot of girls, and it takes a lot of sacrifice - you are really pressured to change who you are to fit a group - not my idea of a good time.

hmmmmmm, well i really can't help you there. my uncle has been in tokyo for 20 years, but i think as an american (i assume you're average height for an american), you have the pick of the litter in that country.

you're not really getting my point. there's a group for everyone, but the trick is to avoid the douchebags (as is life). if you're still in school, i highly suggest rushing, even if you've only got one year left. rushing is a very informal process - at my school it's 5 dollars for the whole week, and every chapter on campus holds fun events with free food and entertainment, every day of that week. you can come and go to any chapter you choose at any time of the week. i highly suggest going to as…

that is remarkably short-sighted. there are certain things that largely cannot be changed - height, physical looks (to some extent), and status, especially race in certain cultures. there are, however, many traits that can be adopted and cultivated - humor, wit, sensitivity, honesty, friendship, confidence, et cetera. in my opinion, i don't want to be with a woman that will turn down humor, wit, sensitivity, honesty, friendship, and honesty just because the guy is short and not good looking or h…

Confidence can be interchanged with any desirable trait, or as Nelly would put it, Pimp Juice. The economic principle still stands. The desired male is in high demand. He can only give attention to a limited amount of females (often only one). The effects of said demand and scarcity are similar, no matter the source of that demand.

I can imagine it'd work anywhere, but I live in St. Louis, Missouri. Pretty normal place. Where you from?

haha true. they frat hard, which really annoys most of us. they give fraternities a bad name to the non-greeks.

i shared your sentiments when i was going into college (i'm going to be a senior). However, at my school there are about 14 social fraternities of significant size, and they are all different - all are on a different area on a sliding scale with drunk douchebags at one end, and socially awkward nerds at the other. In the middle, you have other distincts ones (potheads, agriculture science major, high gpa, sports guys, etc.). I can't say how it is at other schools, but at my school (~6000), there…

that's actually pretty insightful. makes a lot of sense though, because i know plenty of girls that are fixated on the same guy (each one of them isn't aware of each other's parallel crush), and you're right, it's impossible for him to adequately give attention/date every girl. Many of these girls are not looking elsewhere, they are fixated on this one guy. Very interesting observation.

Pi Kappa Phi. It's best not to judge a fraternity on it's national presence, because every local chapter. For instance, in my state, there are four chapters at four different schools, and they are four totally different groups of guys. Every chapter is different at every school. Except for betas and sig eps.
