My fiance called me unromantic for wanting a prenup - why is protecting myself controversial? You should speak to a divorce lawyer first. What you have before your marriage stays yours in NY state. Don’t need a prenup for that. Prenups have a lot of misconceptions. | /r/MensRights | 20/02/26 03:08 AM
Honest questions regarding all your ex wivesShe was never vulnerable with me, despite me being open with her. Being vulnerable is how you create intimacy and trust. She held on to hers, bc - I now realize - she used mine against me. She sees vulnerability as a weaknesses to exploit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/10/25 01:40 AM
Single dads, did you consider having an Au Pair ?I’m in the same shoes and I’ve been wondering the same thing. I had a 21-year-old houseguest for three months that served as an Au Pair. The end, it was nice having somebody home on evenings that I had them which helped my dating life. But my kids were never really excited to be watched by him. And he felt more like having another child than having a childcare partner. So unless my work schedule becomes significantly more intense, I’m happier without one. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/05/24 11:26 AM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?This is my story also. Happy you got out and have done the hard work 👏 | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/24 01:25 PM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?I agree. It is not a solution. It’s just a vehicle towards a solution. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/24 06:47 PM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?The ironic secret to going through the midlife crisis and coming out stronger as you age is that you have to go back and heal your inner child. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/24 05:23 PM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?I generally agree with you. K can be healing, and mushrooms can be euphoric. I think the most important element is starting the experience with the mindset of it being medicine and therapy and having the intention to address a specific issue or issues. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/24 05:21 PM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?As people mention, mushrooms can be a very, very bad experience if your headspace and emotional state isn’t right and you are not experienced with how to manage the trip. if you’re gonna do it outside of a structured ceremony or healing session, I would not take more than 1 g. Maybe even just half a gram. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/24 05:20 PM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?Marijuana gives me anxiety attacks as well. I view marijuana as the litmus test for how healthy my subconscious is and how good my relationship with my inner child is. If it gives me anxiety or I get into a negative thought spiral, it means I have some shit to heal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/24 05:19 PM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?Good question - at various points, it involved LSD, mushrooms, kana, wachuma and ketamine. Those were used in guided ceremonies, solo explorations and recreationally. Psychedelics and plant medicine have an amazing ability to change your pov. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/24 12:58 PM
Why don’t men go on “healing journeys”?I am a man. I have been on several healing journeys. Highly recommended to all men. Life changing shit if you can commit to it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/24 12:29 PM
What could have saved your relationship? What could have saved my marriage is if both of us had been through personal therapy individually well before we got married - and did the hard work of addressing our core issues. We did so much damage to each other that by the time we realized we needed to heal ourselves individually, the damage was done. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/22 07:31 PM
Alone time with kidsI agree. You shouldn't have to fight for this. She should be able to understand this and have the emotional maturity to check her jealousy. Her inability to manage her jealousy is requiring you to exclude a critical relationship building and managing opportunity with your girls. They will be the ones who pay the price in the future. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/04/22 04:45 PM
what to do when your soon to be ex starts a propaganda war with your young kids?Thank you everyone for all the advice and support 🙏 It is very difficult to see this happen in front of my eyes. My inclination is to defend myself or even pre-emptively defend myself. But I will follow the sound advice given - take copious notes and be patient. Let good prevail. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/22 11:41 AM
what to do when your soon to be ex starts a propaganda war with your young kids?Sorry to hear that. This is an unexpected fact of divorce that I'm learning about the hard way. If one of the partners is sufficiently self righteous or vindictive, there is a level of brainwashing that is indefensible and just leads to messing up the kids and your relationship with them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 02:24 AM
what to do when your soon to be ex starts a propaganda war with your young kids?Let me explain further. It's low grade propaganda. Things like - I'm the one that always feeds you and takes care of you. Your dad is always busy with work. I sacrifice everything for you. You kids are my top priority. The types of lines that may play well in family court. So playing the good guy actually will not work bc these are subtle enough micro-brainwashings that it may never hit them that it's not true or that it's exaggerated. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 02:06 AM
Divorce and Young KidsI'm in the same boat. 5 and 3 year old boys. Toxic relationship with an emotionally and mentally abusive wife. Went numb / emotionally distant to try to ride it out til the kids were older. Then while I was recovering from surgery, she let me know that she can't take it anymore and we need to divorce. We have been through multiple therapists. Some flashes of normalcy, but overall nothing but misery. I need my kids to see me at my best. And I have gotten far from that. Onward. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/02/22 01:08 AM
