"A hard requirement of being a man is in fact to be male. Similarly, in order to be a woman, you must first be female. " Because it was so mandated by gender zealots who threatened any transgression with violence and legal punishment. Because in reality, there is no sex requirement to perform a gender - and threats of violence were/are the only way to keep people in their mandated roles.

The difference being that no human has ever been documented as having a platypus brain. It has no basis in science. Gender and transgender does. This is a slippery slope argument akin to "well if men can marry men, then why can't I marry my cat?!" That line of thinking was not sufficient to prevent same-sex marriage and it will not be a reason to stop progress for trans people, either.

There is no assertion that there's no difference between a man and a woman or that there no difference between a male and a female. The existence of transgenderism as a concept disproves your assertion. A MALE is a person with XY chromosomes (and usually a penis) A MAN is all social expectations thereof (I'm sure you know them well) A FEMALE is a person with XX chromosomes (and usually a vagina) A WOMAN is all the social expectations thereof A non-binary person is a person of either SEX who does…

There's no lie, there's just a gap in your understanding of gender. Male is biological. Man is a male culture that you either choose to conform to or not. It's a societal role, not a human sex. All males are males, but not all males are "men". Furthermore, it is scientifically proven that transgender people have a brain configuration resembling more closely the one of the opposite sex. The debate then becomes one not about whether biological sex is a social construct, but whether masculine-brain…

It's my slur to use because I was born with the curse. And I'm being harmed by society because it refuses to acknowledge and provide support systems for gay men who are actually straight and hate faggots. There are transgender support systems, so where is my trans-straight support?

Nah, I'm cisgender scum. Was born with a penis. However, I am trans-straight. Meaning I was born with a gay body and a straight soul.

I'm not bi so I haven't experienced it personally, but I have seen that bi denial and bi erasure are the norm within gay male communities in America. Here, straight men are more likely to be accepting of your sexuality than gay men.

I answered your proposition, you're just a retard. "it would not be inherent and instead would be created from their social surroundings and treatment by others, in which case the most logical solution is to support such groups rather than moan about how they are all shitty people." ^ The short answer: They're too far gone and I have no interest in supporting faggots who don't even want to help themselves. If the behavior is encouraged by their social surroundings then the only way to stamp out …

Any gay meetup that is outwardly welcoming to bi guys is already a step above of the norm. Most gay men would tell you that bisexuality don't real and bi men are just half-way out of the closet. Some will even harass you and try to convince you/whoever is present that you are a liar about your own sexuality. Like you said, you haven't been a part of the community for long... But you will find out.

Those fags are unreasonable and don't want to be supported, they can't have a normal discussion like a decent human. They only want to "throw shade" and "drag" people so that they can "have a kii". That, or whine using the most trite pop-feminist talking points and buzzwords, and then scream like divas when you challenge them because they don't actually have opinions, they just have the top 10 feminist vocab words memorized. Genuinely horrible non-humans. The point is, not everyone can be salvag…

The problem with gays that rebel against gender roles is that a lot of them end up getting sucked into ballroom culture, which specifically encourages being catty, shady and generally unpleasant. I like genuinely feminine guys but most gay fems seem to only want to embody the most negative parts of femininity. Masculine gays are hardly better as they, too, often become fucked up caricatures of masculinity in trying to prove how not-feminine they are. I stand by my original statement.

You're kinda proving my point by turning into a hysterical feminist who generalizes a movement just because one gay man said something that you object to and 2 people upvoted me. I can tell from your post that you're one of those easily triggered, flighty queens that I try to avoid in real life.

Yeah, but everything I've heard about Australia is negative and every Australian I've encountered has been an asshole. It seems like the ratio of shit people to decent ones in that country is astronomically high compared to the rest of the first world. It could be that I just got a bad sampling, but it sure seems that way.

I'm saying that it can be difficult to find a gay man who hasn't been infected with the most toxic kind of feminism. And no, I'm not just referring to intimate relationships. Gay men are shitty friends in general because they tend to be underhanded and calculating like the women that they learned from.
/r/MensRights21/09/15 02:55 PM

The bottom line is that gay men have no real friends except each other. And even then, finding a decent gay man is like finding a needle in a dumpster.

Understandably, it seems you've never been around many gay-dominated communities, online or otherwise. The answer is no. Women are more commonly worshipped as deities and role models in the gay community. Titles like "Goddess" and "Queen" are used as prefixes when discussing celebrity women or just any woman that they deem sufficiently sassy and glamorous. Men, when they're not attractive and mostly naked, are considered to be sub-standard and second class. It's another way that self-hate manife…

White knight faggot to the rescue, suggesting that men are incapable weaklings and infantilizing women in one one fell swoop by saying "MEN AND GIRLS". Thank goodness that 40-year-old girls and weak men have vigilante assholes like you to defend them.

Wouldn't classify this as anti-MRM. I understand that the term "toxic masculinity" sounds incendiary if you don't know what it means, but if you're here on this sub, I'm assuming you've done at least the bare minimum amount of reading on the subject, at least enough to know that it refers to a very specific set of socially mandated traits that actually serve to put men in a box and hinder our free expression. Toxic Masculinity is the same "MAN UP" culture that MRM often harps about, and yes, it …

Never thought of it this way, but it's true. Whenever people want to subtly shame men for doing something or make it embarrassing, they alter the word to give it a "man-" prefix. And it works.

This is what I've been encouraging (and doing) regarding the ridiculous identity politics game that's going on in the west right now. It's so easy to exploit because there are loopholes in the ideology.

Yeah. Also, not to disrespect anyone, but Sweden's men on the whole are already ehm... Socially neutered. Which should be taken as a strong indicator that it's not really just "toxic masculinity" or "male privilege" that feminists are opposed to, it's maleness in its essence. It doesn't matter how compliant and feminine you become, they will still have contempt for you because you're a male.
/r/MensRights26/08/15 10:16 PM

Sweden is just about as anti-male as a country can get It's as anti-male as a country has gotten so far. But it will get much worse if left unchallenged.

Wait, you actually interpreted people shaming him for seeming "gay" as an attempt to exclude him from gay culture? Wow, up is down. Let me clue you in. The reason that this happens is not because straight men are being marginalized by gay men, it's because gay men are still seen as akin to a test tube containing a contagious disease. Let your guard down for just a second and you'll catch the dreaded "gay"!
/r/MensRights26/08/15 09:33 PM
2

This is literally on the bottom of men's rights priorities, which makes it seem like a disingenuous attempt to silence people who say that Sweden's feminism is anti-men. If they actually wanted to have a facility that helps mistreated men, a domestic abuse shelter that accepts men would be much more purposeful.
/r/MensRights26/08/15 09:26 PM

Again I agree, but there is a unfortunately a great deal of cognitive dissonance that many men go through when discussing their own "male experience" due to the fact that being so open about it, in turn, violates their deeply regarded standards of masculinity (men don't show weakness, etc). Currently, it's hard to imagine that men will be able to correct this ourselves, which is why such a vocal part of MRM is basically demanding that feminists stop neglecting men's issues, but I have hope.

If you're not being facetious (which it sounds like you might be), then that sounds like a personal problem. You're letting people shut you down and inhibit your expression over something trivial like ice cream. Lame.

Oh, I absolutely agree with that. There is definitely a notion of "the Hollywood Gay", which is something like what you described, and it seems that this is ONLY kind of gay man that they will allow on TV. The number of extremely flambouyant gay men portrayed in TV and movies is not even close to being proportionate to how many gay men actually fit that stereotype vs. ones who don't. For sure, some aspect of it is learned behavior that is reinforced by media. It's just another way that our cultu…

Well to be fair, I think that was the whole idea behind feminism. But as with almost everything else they do, they are going about it the wrong way.

I agree with the general sentiment here - that masculinity in a broad sense is not a negative trait - but it's not always that black and white. I think the point is that there is a particular brand of western masculinity, which happens to be exceedingly common, that abuses men who are even slightly variant from the dominant masculinity. There is a significant enough number of men that would drastically benefit from broadening the acceptable range of masculinities to make it worth it to do so. Ca…

Well. As far back as I can remember, I always had some inherently feminine tendencies. I was a sheltered kid living on a small conservative island and had no idea what "gay" was let alone the stereotypes thereof. Go to a place where gay men congregate and ask them, and you will realize that many, many gay men had variances of the same experience. So I would venture to say that "gender nonconformity" is something biologically inherent to many (perhaps not all) gay men, but to varying degrees, and…

I'm not entirely sure about that. This generation's sheltered upbringing starting from the helicopter-parenting culture of the 80s & 90s and continuing on into infantilizing policies at universities is something fairly new and unique to this generation. I'm not sure this type of thorough and extensive victimhood programming can be overcome so easily. They would probably feel victimized somehow by having to give birth to a male child in the first place.

To call this a men's rights issue is a huge reach. It's one isolated incident of a particularly sociopathic girl encouraging her friend to kill himself. It has nothing to do with gender relations. It could have just as easily been a male friend who was egging him on.

I haven't tried it yet, but I can definitely tow the line with race, too. I'm just racially ambiguous enough to have "white privilege", but I since I'm visibly mixed, I can play the oppressed minority card if it will get me places. And I can label any overzealous white person who tries to call me out as a racist bigot for invalidating my racial identity. This gives a whole new meaning to "Check Your Privilege". I don't believe it's a men's rights issue, I think that was implicit in the OP. But it is a pretty pertinent issue in society at the moment and I was curious as to where MRA's in particular stand on it.

You think that a celibate gay man doesn't understand that there are exceptions to the rule? I understand full well that masculinity is not absolute, and that even the most normative men are unique. But some traits will always be unusual. Nature DOES make mistakes. That doesn't make less normative men sub-human and deserving of scorn, it just makes them unusual.

Lucky kid. My dad literally tried to beat the gay out of me. It failed obviously, but it did make me resent him. I don't want to derail, but I want to commend you for overcoming your social conditioning to do the right thing. Most people aren't strong enough. Just a side note for anyone reading this though; If you suspect that your kid is gay, it's probably better to just create an accepting environment and then let them come out to you instead of confronting them about it. I'd be interested in hearing your argument, if you don't mind. I have no stake in the idea that men are sex-monsters because I'm celibate by choice anyway. But men are definitely biologically wired to "spread our seed" so to speak, not to be monogamous. I don't see how you could argue otherwise.

I don't have statistics handy. Only my own anecdotal experience, which is probably not the best thing to go by, but I'd be surprised if the statistics turn out to indicate otherwise. Current statistics might be skewed anyway by what you called "the forbidden fruit angle" or the novelty of being granted a right that they didn't have before. But long-term, you'll probably see that far more lesbian couples will be getting married by comparison to gay male couples. Again, I have no proof, but I'd be…

Men aren't monogamous by nature. Marriage and monogamy are artificial structures with the main purpose of procreation and child-raising which, admittedly, has worked out pretty well for our species up until this point. Gay men being unable to procreate naturally have significantly less incentive to be monogamous, and unlike women, aren't inclined to prioritize romance over sex. Some men do genuinely want to be monogamous and genuinely prioritize romance over sex. Some men are feminine in that wa…

Because there weren't enough people in Finland calling attention EVERYWHERE to the blatant gender discrimination of conscription. Even with headlines like this, they probably still don't get it. Yeah, I've always felt like MRA was too diplomatic to be effectual. We make fun of "safe spaces" and "echo chambers" but isn't that basically all this movement is right now? A bunch of guys who don't really want to ruffle any feathers, talking amongst themselves about the change they WOULD make, but doing nothing to enact it. That's real considerate, guys, but that's not how shit gets done in this world.

I think the reason that subjects like these are always controversial is precisely because they're so subjective. The gendered experiences of men vary greatly in accordance with our regional cultures and our immediate communities. There's also the whole thing where people tend to believe that they are somehow impervious to societal influence and that all their beliefs and tendencies are strictly individualistic (never true).

"Women are, men do." < Wow. Never saw that before, but it's the most succinct summation of everything regarding gender that I've ever seen. Womanhood is something inherent to all females, but manhood must be earned and constantly reinforced. To be male and fail to earn/maintain your status as a man, simply, leaves you without any "human" status - not a man or a woman, but nothing. Pretty powerful.

For some it isn't and I agree that men shouldn't be pressured to do any of those things. But for some men it is in fact social conditioning and stigma creating anxiety about behaviors that would be otherwise natural to them. I am certain of this because more men freely do some of these things in cultures where they're not as heavily stigmatized as they are in, say, American culture. It's hard to disagree with this when I've observed the difference personally. Edit: Point being, there are already…

Absolutely. But to be clear, that doesn't mean we shouldn't also call out a system that's forcing men to opt out of the game as the only logical means of avoiding getting fucked over by gynocentrism.
