A bit of speculating on why they may be different. Perhaps the facility was built during a time when the enrollment statistics skewed toward more male students. I would guess that more people can simultaneously use a communal shower setup. It is possible that the showers were built differently just because the expected throughput was different.

I admit I haven't read every word of the CDC report, but I did scan through the tables and try to make the numbers add up in various ways to produce the 40% and 50% values in the infographic, including counting "made to penetrate" as rape, as it rightly should be (though the report doesn't seem to count it as such). This is wrong. According to the CDC, outside of prison 50% of U.S. rape victims are male. When you include prison, the number rises even higher. The majority of rape victims in the U.S. are men. I found that infographic rather shocking, so I looked at its source. I simply can't figure out how that source implies that 50% of rape victims are male.

It is certainly fair to ask the question of whether she is entitled to some form of compensation. However, if she is, surely said compensation should come from the party who wronged her. In this case, that would be the state, which stole away her spouse, rather than the spouse himself.

It would appear you are one of the few people in this thread that has managed to engage his higher brain functions. The whole point of the bill is to be ridiculous. She knows it is ridiculous and is trying to equate the stupidity of this bill with that of those that challenge women's reproductive rights. It really doesn't matter that vasectomies aren't perfectly analogous to abortions.

I advocate an aggresive legal and underground internet approach to the problem. At least on this point, I think we can agree. The disagreement comes in at the point where I suggest that the legal changes should involve things like not letting the names of the accused be released during an investigation, and you suggest that they should involve things like financially ruining the victim of a traumatic crime because of a misidentification.

This isn't a problem that is unique to rape cases, or even unique to men. I imagine a person, man or woman, falsely identified as a murderer would face a similar situation.
