1	Why women hate porn Porn is a way for men to get sex 'on the side'. There is status hierarchy, with men at the top having sex with all the women. Porn allows men to subvert the hierarchy and obtain sex they don't 'deserve'. This is why women hate porn. It also decreases their leverage. The difference for most of us is that we've seen the data. I mean the hard data, coming from serious scientific research. 7	Signs of the End OP's observation rings very true. Not only it may accelerate by itself, but men tend to "locate areas of competition". If an area is not a good area for competition, men leave. As competition based on performance is deemphasized, men will start to leave in search for other endeavors where they can try to excel. That doesn't mean disregarding morality as a whole is a wise or even balanced thing to do. Wonderful to read this post. It's good to know there are men of good character who will take the high road. FRDevlin makes a good point that it's easier to encourage moral behavior if females as modest, for one because men have much stronger sex drives, so it can be more difficult for them. As you say there is a tension between the biological role of the male filter function and the types of stable societies in which all males are invested and civilization can emerge. I suggest one way to resolve this is to have male mate value determine quantity of reproduction, in a smooth gradation, so no one is left out, but it's not a civilization-destroying winner-take all situation either.
