I find it really demeaning that these institutions think they're students need educating to not commit domestic or sexual abuse! I mean it's obvious to anyone with an even mind. Those that are the kind of people to commit these offences will not pay attention to these sort of courses anyway so it's just a waste of money in my view.

FGM is pretty horrible though (especially seeing as much of it is forced). Whether or not it reduces HIV should not be a talking point. Just as much as whether Male circumcision reduces diseases shouldn't be a talking point! Neither of those things matter because forcibly removing part of the body of a boy or girl is morally reprehensible and has no place in civil society.

Oh is that so? I thought that statutory rape was only for people under 16 whom are unable to legally consent. But I was aware that prison guards could also be classed as 'rapists'. Kind of ridiculous to define it as 'rape' in terms of teacher/pupil IMO if it was all consented and the guy/girl was legal age. You can contact Senator Cruz here: http://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=email_senator and Senator Cornyn here: http://www.cornyn.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=ContactForm I don't know who your local representative is in Houston but I suggest writing to them as well.
