If they're out on a date and there's a spark, they know they can't take the girl back to theirs - so they have to plan ahead if they plan to sleep with the girl (thus removing any spontaneity of sex)... Planning ahead in itself becomes risky. If they pay for a hotel ahead of time and nothing happens, they waste their money.
