24	The ever widening gender divide in Tokyo The same thing seems to be going on amongst Koreans. Many of the betas opt to join a company and work themselves to death. This is quite standard as men are expected to pay everything on the first few dates. Even more, commitment is asked right after a first kiss, or sometimes even before.
