Yeah. When the khamseen rolls in, everyone finds something to help copy the niqab. Imo, most religious and traditional rules and habits and clothes tend to either be practical or once have been practical

For the record, Hijab and Niqab and similar aren't usually made out of polyester, and are surprisingly comfortable. They're kind of perfect for the desert (though I've never understood why anyone would use black, the vast majority of veiled women I saw in Egypt used light colours), and you'll notice that the men wear remarkably similar clothing
