I'm obese and I can't stand what the Fat/Body Positive movement has become. It does help me to see other fat people represented (especially POC as I'm mixed race) in media, but I can't stand the denial of science/medical evidence, mental gymnastics, the general overly defensive attitude. I feel like a lot of "movements" on social media are preemptively defensive, which is probably why I avoid a lot of it, lol. And the idea that wanting to lose weight and or actively doing so equates fatphobia is…

And all the dudes who are 6's seem to intentionally look like Sonic the Hedgehog and then have the nerve to passive-aggresively bitch at women on the internet for never giving them the time of day. The Epitome of the Stupidity.

Find a random nude girl's pic and send it to him saying "I'm 16 Daddy" and see what happens. Worst is he replies abusively, best is you catch a pedo and can get his info and send to police.

Wow. I mean on the one hand I understand why this might make a man feel pressured to propose and or a woman pressure to move, but it seems like you expressed how you felt and expresses your standards. But why don't men just say that? "Hey babe, I see your perspective but I am feeling pressure to do XYZ. Can we talk more about ABC?" Expressing emotions helps alleviate them. This is sad (for men).

It was infuriating to hear. Like just express your thoughts and feelings with words, like an adult. Please and thank you.

This isn't related to the post, but I would like to express that I'm glad this post has so many likes. When I first put it up it was downvoted, I assume by a disgruntled man but maybe not. Anyway thank you all ☺️

EXACTLY. She stated her standard and now he's mad he agreed. This will be good evidence for her in divorce proceedings.

This fits under so many flairs, lol, I hope I picked the right one. I felt Cultural Misogyny was a good fit because of the emotional undertones between the couple: -He's pissed he agreed to only fuck one person and feels his sex drive entitles him to bang however many women he wants. This has been happening since the dawn of time. Reminds me of Mad Men, the tv show. -She's clearly uncomfortable and at times it seems like she's on the verge of tears, judging by her voice, but that's my interpreta…

Lol it's because in their travels poor brown people are probably fawning all over them. They know poor "exotic" women want them/a better life and they can often get it. Western women are waking up and saying no sexism and just not accepting it. So they wish to go somewhere where they'll feel "respected", which happens to be where women are subjugated. Weird coincidence.

Yes, this is exactly what happened to me. The being too tolerant and chill part. The girl I'm referring to is super disrespectful of other people's time and property. When she lived here she would leave her dishes sitting around for weeks or months on end. If myself or the other roommate wanted to use one of the things she'd left dirty we'd basically be forced to clean up after her. She'd get her hair done in the house and just leave the hair bits, packages, towels lying around. Oh and occasiona…

Oh that's a good strategy too, seeing how they react to your new confidence, slowly building distance. This seems like a good way to detach yourself from the friendship as well. Recently I've muted the Instagram posts, messages and stories of who I'm distancing myself from so they're not front and center on my social media. That was one of our primary ways of communicating, so it's nice to scroll through and enjoy without them popping up.

I'm going through this exact thing, I might make a post about it sharing the warning signs I experienced, mistakes I made, etc. In my situation it seems I can either let the friendship fizzle out, because I don't think she's really feeling it anymore either. It could sort of diffuse on its own. Or, I could set up a time to talk to her on the phone, explain my grievances and say "this isn't a friendship I want to be in anymore", "I'm ending this friendship", etc. If you/I choose the latter, plan …

This has proven to be 100% true in my experience with my LV brother. As soon as you bring up politics he turns vile. God forbid you express an opinion different than his or below his unexpressed standards. He is very political and knows a lot but is so insecure that's the only place in life he feels he has an authority or something. He gets immediately overbearing and dismissive. Glad I'm No Contact with his childish ass!

Hello, thank you for such a thoughtful response! I was honestly just venting and I feel surprised by a responses, especially a considerate and informative one. I will try The Pause. I admit I am not always the most patient person with men (who on this sub is though? Lol), and I have experienced a feeling of loss of power because of them, so your remarks about how this strategy makes you feel powerful appeals to me a lot. Thank you again.

I like this! Lol. Subtle, nice but makes a point. I personally like to say "it's/thats unfortunate" instead of "I'm sorry", to fight the conditioning of apologizing so much.

I appreciate your response as well, but what if when your read this you just become more resentful of all the work you and other women have to do because of male bullshit? I feel like I have to modify so much of my behavior and constrict my freedoms because of male aggression and entitlement. Averting my gaze because of I look to long a man will assume I'm interested when I'm really marveling at his ugliness. Heavily debating going out alone. Watching drinks like a hawk. That's an excellent point and it brings up another one: If he is successfully dating, why/how does he have time to post on Medium? Lol. It's so easy to poke holes in these arguments because they're a mix of personal feelings, personal experiences and anecdotes and the logic is based on that. It's just pure nonsense. That's why it's so entertaining. The article is hilarious.

This gave me a good chuckle. The article and I assume the author are stupid. His writing style has a lot of passive voice and the content contains many illogical statements and assumptions. "it never occurred to me that women would need “strategies” to be passive participants in dating and relationships." assumes that all women are passive in dating. -"Men approach women, men initiate seduction, sex,..." This is just wrong. I am unsure where research is now but if I remember correctly from "The …
