Java, JS and Ruby on Rails professionally. Worked in startups all the way up to multi billion dollar companies. Made the transition into management 7 years ago. Am in upper management now.

Asians are only minorities when it serves a tactical purpose, and almost never are men considered minorities.

Or just be a minority. Some of the things I've heard FAANG do to recruit diversity candidates are CRAZY.

16 years for me. Went to a second tier tech school because I didn't know what the fuck I was doing. Once I figured out that actually doing my work was the key to success (still boggles my mind that this is even a distinguishing factor) I took off.

Best of luck to you. Put the effort in and you'll find something - aim for a company that's committed to helping you grow. Startups (especially early stage) are generally not a great option for your first job unless you can't find anything else, because you'll be on your own most of the time and you can develop some really bad habits.

You could for sure, but I think if you're motivated enough to do the stuff you'd need to do to get a good job (learn a lot on your own, solve tons of problems, dive into complex apps and projects), you'll be able to learn on your own and save $15k.

I’m a hiring manager. Most people coming from boot camps are woefully underprepared. Only the top 5% are worth bringing on as raw juniors at best, and that’s only from the best boot camps. Most of them are worthless. They’re a scam.

The good ones are in high demand. The ones who spent 100k+ to go to “East Jersey Tech College and Pizzeria” are not. Go to a school known for having a good CS program (preferably a state school or other reasonable cost school), do well and get some internships. You’ll be fought over by companies. Do NOT go to a boot camp unless you like spending $15k to not really learn much and not find a job.

They're already doing it. People of all races are being killed by militarized police. This is an EVERYONE problem and we need to stop it.

We've all been there - I had a girl over to "watch a movie", started making out with her then fucking WENT BACK to catch the part we missed while making out. She left a few minutes later and I never saw her again. Don't blame her. Laugh at yourself, learn from your mistakes and move on.

Exactly. You need to be the one determining what (and who) has enough value to fit into your limited time. If you're not already filling your day with valuable and enjoyable activities, spending time chasing 6s on Tinder can quickly become the only thing you get any enjoyment or illusion of value from. Inactivity and boredom is a death sentence for you in so many ways. As long as you can deal with the stress of having a full day (sleep, meditation, exercise, eating well, etc), there's no excuse …

100%. I was 5'10" 165 from 17-23, then put on 15 lbs when I got an office job, then 30 more from 25-33. If I wasn't such a lazy passive dipshit in my 20's I would've started eating well and working out before any of this happened.

That second girl looks androgynous with resting bitch face and puts little effort into her appearance. She'd have more luck if she wore more feminine clothes and tried not to look so unapproachable. Lips McGee is ugly but she's got some budget DSLs so guys probably think she'll be good at blowing them.

That sub has a reputation of recommending people break up way too quickly, but most of the time I think they're right. No point in staying in a relationship where you need to go to fucking Reddit for advice on how to deal with something.

I also have a good bread knife because I make a lot of hard crusty bread, and good steak knives because why not.

When she said "I told him I was free to see who I wanted" she forgot to add "without any consequences". Sure, she can go party it up with an ex and most assuredly fuck him, but any man with a spine is going to dump her at that point.

Thing is, I would agree with the blue pillers on this one. It probably is her being a broken person. Not that he's not at fault, though - I view his fault as being with a woman like this in the first place. She's at BEST an alpha widow, at worst this guy did gaslight her and fuck her up. If he really understood TRP he either would've never even looked at this trainwreck, or he would've plated her and not dealt with the inevitable relationship drama and heartache.

Absolutely not. There's definitely an effort to try to make it that easy, but the difference in long-term quality between a 4 year CS/software engineering grad and a 12 week bootcamp attendee is staggering - I've hired some bootcamp grads who worked out fine, but that was more due to their drive and desire to learn rather than anything the bootcamp taught them. That said, companies realize there's a shortage of talent in software development (a huge reason why salaries are so high), and all this…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
