Remember that there's nothing wrong with showing interest in a girl. What'll get you rejected immediately is showing an obsessive or desperate kind of interest. As long as what you show is attraction, and not emotional instability, it's reasonable to ask her out casually. If she's the shy type you could also consider asking her to come hang out with you and other friends.
