People can join those things for a variety of reasons, but as you've presented this thing, it's impetus to join seems based mostly on shame. You're right, but the philosophy inherent to the thing you're posting about (at least as far as I understand it, I could be wrong) seems to be inherently a semi-humiliating thing for a person to accept. That's the main reason I don't think most young, lonely guys will get pulled into it- but as I've said, I could be wrong.

They’re certainly not immune, and some will almost certainly get dragged in. I agree with that entirely. But I think men, vulnerable ones especially, tend to rebel against such things. *Hate and anger feel powerful, this is partly why it’s common among those who feel like they can’t have anything. This sort of concept doesn’t actually even impart a feeling of strength, why would (most) men who feel weak and hopeless accept it?

I wasn't actually familiar with the differences in exactitude between modern and classical stoicism. If what you're telling me is accurate, then I see no issue with stoicism in substance, though I do not view Aurelius very highly. Also, I haven't read all of his comments, so I could be wrong, but his assessment of what classical stoicism actually is could very well differ from your harmless definition.

You are not everyone. Also, stoicism has not actually been the dominant historical mode of how men interacted with their emotions either. For example the vast majority of famous poetry- including love poetry, has been written by men.

Good question. It is one thing to acknowledge that patriarchy did exist in the past (in various forms) and another thing entirely to say that it exists in today's western world. I think that Chainsaw man is pro male in that it appeals to common male desires. It's sort of a male power fantasy (and appeals to common male desires in other ways) but it's done in a very intelligent way, so it comes off very well.

Saw this on my recommended feed. Assumed it was feminist slop and refused to touch it. The first half of chainsaw man, as far as I'm concerned, makes the point that empty physical pleasure isn't worth anything- which is right, in my opinion. It's only a critique of "toxic masculinity" insofar as the empty pleasures it's critiquing just happen to be things like, groping someone you don't actually care for.
