This really makes a lot of sense. All my life women seem to have reacted to my smell. I don't wear cologne and use unscented soap/shampoo, so it's just me they are smelling. I have been told many times by women that they either love how I smell or love me hugging them.

I suppose this is central to what I proposed above. Just as you observed earlier female nature hasn't changed... there hasn't been enough time for that.
