I wouldn't worry about it that much, people should like you for who you are. (I like cheerful boys anyhow.) There might be some pressure based on where you work though. Like OP said imitate Russell Crowe from Gladiator to be manly.

The goal is to take the conversation off of text messages. I know this is old, but we ladies really appreciate when a guy thinks of a date idea and helps transition the relationship from text messages to real world.
