I wanted to be a doctor from childhood. The med school I went to was 80% women, and had a pass fail system (vs grades) to encourage cooperation and collaboration. It was the best time of my life. I love my work and though I do think it is masculine in most ways ( problem solving, directive, etc) there is also a nurturing aspect that is feminine. Every man I’ve been with has been proud of my education and profession. I’m still a newb to the whole red pill thing, but I don’t think my work is my bi…

Thanks for your thoughtful responses :) 1.Ah, the old showing of the belly...wow. I can see in the moment I'd rather start world war III than be vulnerable like that, ugh. Gonna take some serious practice! But, its simple enough to say, so I will try it. Thank you. Good points. This critical thing is not something he did early on, at least not directed towards me, but I've noticed it creeping up in the last week or so. Its not specific to me but kind of an ongoing internal dialogue for him, he's…

u/Scared-Tea-8911, thanks. Good point about the age difference and mom mode. I've never dated someone younger before, so yeah I want to really be cautious of that dynamic, no interest whatsoever. I just have to check my ego that wants to be right, be helpful, be acknowledged for being really smart etc. One of the reasons I'm attracted to this guy is because how crazy smart he is, & how alpha he is. So...that means adjusting my attitude. And now I know how totally intolerant he is of my old patte…

Thanks for your thoughtful reflections u/Environmental_Ad5867. Speaking of fathers, mine who I also loved more than anything, was relentlessly critical of me. So yeah, when I'm criticized now, especially by my lover, it brings up all those "i'm not good enough" feelings and a whole lot of anger. I don't think I would have actually had the presence of mind to calmly ask him why his way was more effective without being sarcastic or snarky in tone. He told me later last night after I apologized and…

You could be right. However, I'm trying to see if my way of being defiant and stubborn and the opposite of submissive is the common thread that has destroyed my past relationships or not, not so much whether he is the bad guy here. Once I apologized he admitted his demon came out, and he felt really bad about it. I'm trying to understand my part in it, how I provoked him by not being submissive. It doesnt let him off the hook, but I also need to understand how I contributed.

Thanks! When I texted him the apology he responded within a few minutes: "I'm sorry for not communicating sweetly and being distant. Wanna chat on the phone?" And then we talked about it. He explained that he was triggered, first because I didnt comply with his wishes, but also because when I called him out on being critical and judgemental it brought up the this trigger from his past relationship where he was judged for being abusive because of this type of behavior, and so part of his withdraw…

Thanks u/whosthatgirlits. It just so happens I picked Laura Doyle's book to start reading today, and then you chime in with more of her advice tailored to this situation. Coincidence? I think not ;) Really appreciate you taking the time to spell this out for me, especially the apology. I have a quick temper and a lot of pride, and it takes a lot for me to apologize when I feel I was the one wronged. I'm really trying to improve my relationship stats though, and I know I have a lot to learn. So, …
