Good question. I think you have to just leave the "safe" zone of conversation. There are plenty of fairly standard topics that don't feel out of the blue but cause people to open up -- things like travel usually work well. I think being a good listener is the main thing. Most people spend their time in their head, thinking about what they are going to say next. The result: a slightly disjointed conversation, that just feels a little "off". If you are in your head, you are aware of what she is ta…

Yeah I suppose it is actually, but I bet it's a somewhat common problem. If you have your life together, you probably don't find yourself on Seddit as you do well with women. If you don't have much luck with ladies (and I think a common cause of a lack of success with women is social anxiety) you tend to focus on "game" rather than your social life. Thanks for your take on this and for the video link -- I'll check it out now. I think you're right. I've worked hard at stages 2 and 3, but I've neglected stage 1. I'm fine with stage 1 in a charged environment, where approach/opening feels more natural, but I'm awful at it in a normal everyday scenario. I always feel like a bit of an outsider at new jobs and at parties where I don't know anyone. Putting "game" to one side for a moment, it really is the social connection (with both genders) that…

Thanks for your take on this, and I know what you mean. In some situations (I'm thinking at work!) going all guns blazing isn't massively appropriate. And I'm actually talking about this more from a social perspective than "game". I'd genuinely like to make more friends, both male and female, but I still suffer from quite bad social anxiety which stops me putting my best self forward in mundane situations.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
