There are always times I’m available, in particular before I shower- won’t be on the bed. (depends on what he is wanting to do) and after I shower, if he too has showered- will be on the bed. I don’t think that’s crazy picky as if I’ve just showered and he’s still dirty, I think it’s fair he jumps in the shower first? Anyway... maybe less important. He says I should be grateful he’s attracted to me and in a lot of ways that’s very true.

Maybe I didn’t explain well (ironic, lol)- I’m saying that my hubby would be at a great disadvantage and what help would it be to have someone side with me and back up what I say just because I’m more articulate than him? I’ve seen that scenario before and the man just resents the wife because of it

He started being a jerk I guess? To be simple about it. He also asks for intimacy at the weirdest times, like when I’m eating or having a tea or cleaning. If I ask him to wait I’m “withholding” even though he gets it daily. So I have to stop what I’m doing or I get accused of sin. I’d be lying if I say it hasn’t built up resentment

Frankly I wouldn’t trust anyone. I have 0 faith in someone not taking my side because I am able to express myself much better than my husband is as words are not his strong point. That’s not his fault he can’t express himself well and he is learning, but in the end of the day if a third party was involved I know they would side against him

You’ve made a really good point about the money I earn and maybe giving more to him would help him see my submission more. There are plenty things here to reflect on and you are so right, the stress of us buying land and building a house may have gotten to him and weighed much heavier than I expected.

Yes. But part of me is so selfish and just wishes he would leave it alone. I literally give him everything, including anal if he wants it. I swallow for him and never deny him sex or bjs, I’m open to all positions. I literally wouldn’t say no to anything- besides that ONE thing. It’s like because he knows I don’t want to do that one thing, he pushes relentlessly. I feel like I would be more comfortable if he didn’t always ask for it.

My husband is an extremely hard worker. He’s been working over a decade all kinds of jobs as he was not born in the country we live in now. Him and his family fled persecution and now own a house and all have well paying jobs. They worked their asses off. My husband has also worked tirelessly in ministry at a great financial loss. He truly is inspiring and I want to be better for him. He also is the work horse of his work team and does the heavy lifting. I could never fault his work ethic ever. …

I agree. In the end of the day I can only change myself with God’s help so I appreciate you highlighting where I need to work on. I think that is some of the only sane steps I can take right now.

I have been considering telling him how much his jokes hurt. Today he made a horrible one and I said “wow, that’s not cool honey” and he said “I’m just joking I didn’t mean it” but I feel like he just said that to cover his bottom. I’m over it now but the examples keep coming daily at this point. I wonder if isolation made everything worse?

We often joke he is a “A-grade a-hole ” (self professed). When we go shopping or out to eat he is usually unfriendly to everyone, with the exception on the phone to work mates etc. My husband has actually been amazing when I was ill and he has always stepped up to the plate as I have been bed bound before. The issue isn’t his help rather his attitude that I sometimes bare the brunt of. He is a dutiful man and will always do what is needed if there is a need, but if I can, I’m expected to. This i…

Thank you for the balanced view- my husband is actually amazing and strong, but sometimes his strength and bluntness falls on me, hence why I’m reaching out. I wouldn’t trust our pastor with counselling and I don’t think it’s a good idea to do it together as I feel that he will be cornered and that is potentially more damaging for him. I trust him with intimacy but that act mentioned before is difficult for me to get over

Yes, he works very hard too. As u/willow-girl pointed out, it seems his on the phone persona isn’t his true self and just for work sake

We save for the house and to have a buffer for when I have children. I am fine with him not doing chores around the house, I just don’t like it when he picks on me, lol.

I tend to agree with this, especially when it’s not for my pleasure and I’ve made it clear I can’t handle it.

Maybe it is time for me to seek therapy.

Not RP aware in the sense of knowing the terminology, but RP aware in character and tradition

Thank you, some of that rings true. Although, my love language is acts of service and that’s the main reason why me and my husband work. He does many realistic and practical things for me which I love dearly

Unfortunately he’s stubborn as anything and has never been convinced by anyone for anything. He even doubts me when I say very true things about women for example. Only God can get through to him at this point

Yes, but once it’s said it can never be taken back. I will try to express it in a kinder way or else it may have a worse result ?

That’s an amazing way to put it. I think that’s spot on...I need to get out of the way. It’s encouraging to know you were once similar in some ways. I hope my hubby can make the same turn around. Thank you

I will definitely try and be emotionally bare with him. I personally feel like I don’t need heaps of reassurance, it’s more when he has a bit of a go at me for something that should have been a good thing. He is on the immature side but he always surprises me and rises to the occasion. Thank you for the comment it was very helpful

Wow! Thank you so much for helping me see this in another way. I really appreciate your comment- especially about the phone personality thing, ha. He has many, many good qualities and is over all amazing which is why these things have bothered me so much. Sometimes when life is so good we pick on the smallest details? He is a leader and he has the ability to tell me no. He’s more upfront than most husbands. He doesn’t tip toe around me and isn’t scared to say what he thinks. I respect him a lot …

He is not abusive and I will have to stand by that. He’s insensitive and sometimes a bit of a jerk at the worst. Please remember you are only seeing my side of the story and I’ve only highlighted some of the bad things because I’m finding it hard to tolerate. But thank you for your advice. I didn’t want him to sound like the villain! He’s literally my hero, which is maybe why some of these things have let me down. Everything I do is expected I guess?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
