I'm not the one who made an argument based on the assumption that women are constantly wearing tight clothing. Besides, how hard can tights be to pull down? Your point is kinda absurd.

Do women inherently desire to wear tight clothes or is that a cultural expectation we place on them?

Being offended is such a worthless fucking emotion. It solves nothing, does nothing and makes you feel like shit. Don't be a part of the outrage machine that keeps society stratified.

I agree. I think this content should be posted but just hopping on the outrage bandwagon is useless and makes MRA's sound like whining radfems. Unless you're going to have a legitimate discussion about this issue, why it's wrong and what we should do to fix it this is just a fucking circlejerk we're all of the sudden no better than people who use loaded buzzwords like "male privilege" and "slut shaming."

An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm. Because shouting at someone can be breaking the law. Too many details missing from this story to make a judgment call like that. What if he threatened her repeatedly with physical harm? I'd call the cops in that situation too. It's bullshit when a guy goes to jail if the female is the aggressor but when the guy is the aggressor he's wrong.

No, it's worse than that. She accused the kids of using the iPad to perform a sync with her phone where the picture was "actually" located. As an iPhone and iPad owner... I'm not even sure this is possible, but I also don't sync my pictures or upload to the cloud because fuck that.

Yup, I don't sync any of my pictures to the cloud or between devices. You'd have to be a fucking moron to do that if you have any pictures you don't want other people to see. Which I do.

Yeah well, Fuck you, you don't have to get an abortion and it doesn't effect you. Why are you trying to legislate what others do? Mind your own god damn business. I'm not religious and as a man I like the option of abortion being available(and so does my girlfriend(not a man)). We take all the right precautions but sometimes those fail, and we don't want children yet. Zygotes aren't babies, deal with it. Edit: attn. prolife fuckwits. Wow, advocating for the civil equality of men is a good thing. Spreading absolute biased crap free of any science like this "article" is completely absurd. But wait. Is it good? When was it ever proved that eating fruits and vegetables is important? Maybe men don't believe it because it's just been mostly nothing but a folk belief all this time. Bollocks, as if every scientific study in the last 40 years that suggests red meat contributes to heart disease and a whole foods diet actually reduces …

Very nicely put. In fact when you put it that way TwoX seems like a much less uncomfortable place. I feel very much the same way going there as a man that you felt here as a woman, attacked/unwelcome or just feeling like "the bad guy/gal." I think you may have even touched on something very poignant. A lot of the push back against feminism by the MRA community is I think a result of similar feelings. For a man who's been used by women, had his heart broken, been gaslighted, feels an unequal pres…

Would you go to the hot dog restaurant in Chicago where the gig is that the staff are always insulting and be offended when they were pricks to you? No. Because that's what they do.
/r/MensRights17/08/12 07:16 PM

You know, I think a lot of the "sexism against males" posts on MRA are as ludicrous as many feminist claims but this definition is clearly in the wrong. When a female molests a child it isn't rape? Also implied is that the threat of violence is required, haven't we heard over and over from the feminist definition of rape that this is untrue? No one should be happy about the semantics involved here.

There is an alarming new feminist idea that essentially any type of persuasion or diffusion of one's feelings is "gaslighting" women. As someone who's been seriously gaslighted by my ex-girlfriend I find this weak willed definition infuriating. Telling someone to calm down when they get upset about something minor is not the same as subtly fucking with someones perception until they doubt their own eyesight. Go read a feminist blog about gaslighting and they'll say just exactly that.
/r/MensRights07/08/12 03:32 PM

It made her feel like an event in her life should have been traumatic, she should have felt assaulted or abused. The fact that she didn't feel this is where the shaming effect comes in. Why didn't she feel that what happened is wrong? What's wrong with her that it didn't impact her life? It seems like an elaborate form of slut shaming essentially. If you didn't feel like that was rape, you must be a whore.

I'm inclined to agree somewhat, it's just an aggressive circle jerk. We can't even see how the situation started. It makes r/mr look like a bunch of goons salivating over some women who got beat up. I was going to upvote you until this. You are dehumanizing women. There is no "neutral" gender, there are just as many of us as there are of you. By declaring men are neutral people, you are inherently making women something weird and other, when we're not. It's also pretty sexist to talk about clothing that way. There are some women who show off their bodies, but a woman who chooses to wear something that fits her properly is probably not out for attention. big baggy loose clothing is actually …

Men will be men, we talk about things and do things women may find inappropriate. If you really want to eliminate sexism, you should fight for men to act around you in public as they do with their friends. This doesn't work, ever. If I treat my female friends like one of the boys they inevitably end up getting upset.

So being Egyptian automatically makes him a loud cunt? What? It's perfectly possible to have a cell phone conversation at an acceptable volume, in case you weren't aware. Also, his ethnicity has nothing to do with this unless we're going to assume its just an additional slap of bigotry from the woman who reported him. "I'm not lettin no durka durkas near MY baby!!! Child molester!!". Fuck that.

A man is a fool to get involved with a woman. Nearly every government process is stacked against the guy. This may not go over well here but honestly, this is where your entire point turns fucking imbecilic. Just as not all men are the evil pigs that some feminists would have us believe, neither are all women man-using shrews. There are good women out there who don't behave like this and to imply that one should never get involved with a woman is just fucking stupid generalization.

There was a time when people tried to fix things if they were broken rather than tossing them out at the first sign of wear. This is not to say that some relationships aren't awful but I think a lot of people give up far too easily these days and file for divorce because they're in a bad mood essentially.

It's the norm in white trash towns across America though. My sister's friend with 4 kids from different daddies told her she should have kids so that she could get govt assistance. People are fucking idiots and if you're dumb and entitled enough you can play the welfare system like a champ. Assuming you have kids.

So is it okay for a guy to knee a woman in the stomach for any reason? An action that is arguably less painful even.

It's a pretty good double standard going on there too. If you complain that she's hitting you "you're a pussy." If you hit her back "you're abusive and completely out of line." While the whole time it remains completely acceptable for women to physically abuse men and is even considered comedy in some circles.

There is a difference between getting offended at something innocuous that had no ill intent behind it. It is quite another thing to support the hateful speech about women that is sometimes seen in this subreddit. If we're going to complain about the cock choppers at SRS, we can't do the same thing and continue on with hate speech of our own.
/r/MensRights05/03/12 05:40 PM

I think his point is this does nothing to combat the sexism against men in society. In fact it gives them fodder as they can now attack men for "not wanting to grow up" instead of realizing it's the result of a broken system.

Do they assume the same minimum wage for her if you were the one making 1500 a month and she had no income?
/r/MensRights07/06/11 08:23 PM

I'm afraid I have to disagree. Disregarding the circumstances of birth, and assuming both parties are equally responsible for bringing the child into the world, they are both financially responsible for the child. If one parent can afford to provide the child with good nutrition and a good lifestyle that they are accustomed to, it is unreasonable to expect the child to then live in a much lesser situation. A couple things just because they seem semi-relevant. My parents divorced when I was 9 and had custody split 50/50. My mom paid my Dad child support until he passed away because she earned more, in this way it was a fair system as far as I'm concerned. Thing I would be curious about as far as OP is concerned is, were the situation reversed would they automatically assume an income of 35 hours at minimum wage for her as well or does this only apply to men?
/r/MensRights07/06/11 08:15 PM
0

No it doesn't. If one parent is a millionaire and the other parent is in poverty don't you think the child is entitled to the same lifestyle in both homes? Is it reasonable to expect a child to be able to cope with sleeping in a 6 bedroom mansion one night and sleeping in the same room with your brother the next night? People have a responsibility to their children be they male or female. It goes both ways.

Eh I'm not so sure, the way I see it the situation is similar to trying to translate a phrase from one language to another for which there are not ample or accurate enough words for translation. Certain concepts are inexplicable, or not as precisely explained in certain languages. Would this not apply to the dumbing down of ones own language? It seems quite probable to me that an inadequate vocabulary would effect ones critical thinking skills. As far as making up new words to hang meaning on, t…

What doesn't it have to do with words? What is unworkable about newspeak? As the other commenter said, this is how finnish works. IIRC this is also how German language works, when they need new words they just make compounds out of already existing words.

I read 1984 in high school and once again at about 24 and I have to say I appreciated it a lot more. Also good to add Fahrenheit 451 to the list if you haven't read it, it's also quite good.

I disagree. If you don't think 1984 is realistic just look at North Korea. I think reality in the western world however is closer to a combination of both predictions. In the future thats arisen we have some almost terrifying Big Brother like features in our society. Glenn Beck might as well be the two minutes hate and the war on terror is so akin to the perpetual war in 1984, it's a war we can never win against an invisible ominous enemy while we magnify the cultural differences.

I always want to leave comments like that, and I'm afraid it's just going to get downvoted into oblivion, but thank you, and the pleasure was all mine.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say V for Vendetta took a lot of inspiration from 1984. There is actually an appendix in the back of the book dedicated to explaining the whole concept, sort of a history of the language in the book. If you've ever heard the term doublespeak or doublethink, those come from Orwell. The entire book is pretty fascinating, it's a love story, a thriller, a history, a war story and a political strategy book all wrapped into one.

It's not really about war, there is war going on but that's not what its about. Personally I see it as a hidden love story and a beautiful examination of the human condition. There is also an underlying theme presented throughout the book that relates to how the language we speak and vocabulary we have access to shapes our ability to think, and the concepts we're capable of grasping. The government in the book simplifies the language and removes certain words to make sure the citizens are even a…

My boyfriend insists that there is no power in words, Perhaps he should read 1984.

Yeah, read his posts though, thats one dedicated troll... or its just a guy who labeled himself as one because he gets a lot of shit for his misogyny.

Exactly that sort of manipulative behavior, but we have to take each instance in a case by case basis. OP didn't make any implication that she was shady in getting pregnant. The pervasive attitude around here that all women are evil manipulative bitches is ridiculous. If a woman were preaching similar anti-male hate speech you would be up in arms because it's just as ridiculous. Men and women are both humans, and as such there will be good and evil among both.

Don't people around here lambast women for this same kind of manipulative behavior?

Still debatable. DoctorMindBeam didn't like being disagreed with and viewed every action of Kloo through whatever are the opposite of rose colored glasses.

Circumcision (perhaps a nice term for male genital mutilation)? How true. I agree with almost everything you said, and I feel the same way about a lot of the opinions on this subreddit. I do however think some of the anger that pervades around here is due to the fact that MRA is kind of a scoffed at branch of activism, and I understand why from the perspective of feminists, "men have had all the power forever, so what if we have a few advantages these days we deserve it!". The problem with both …

I too made a couple ninja edits for clarification, I can dig it. Honestly I too when I first read the title was like, wait what? I initially clicked through to question why those aspirations were so out of line but upon reading the body text I could understand where the anger was coming from or at least the perceived affront that motivated it. I totally agree about the filter thing, I think it is interesting and says something about both of us that we both read the title thinking they were sensi…

Why are people assuming that the women OP mentioned expect these things for themselves only? I wish I knew, I'm sorry if that came off as my opinion as I was merely trying to explain the sentiment behind the anger. just a lot of men in here projecting their misogyny I'm not sure it's so black and white: If divorce, then get custody of kids - cause I should not be penalized for working hard and, after all, they will be MY kids. Women recognized these expectations were tilted in their favor, but s…

To clarify, are you saying she has every right to have the child, but also acknowledging that if she wants to proceed, she shouldn't hold him economically liable?

Similar, because in both instances the man has no rights.

I'm not putting words in anyone's mouth, I was just trying to explain the perception of the statements around here. Like I said, I can't say either way how the discussion was but what I'm observing here is how they're being perceived on /MR and why the people here are upset but I never spoke toward the legitimacy of that anger either way. For the most part I agree with your viewpoint :-)

The problem arises when you ask whether they expect men to have the same absolute power of their choices. They expect to have the choice of whether to work or stay home, but do they expect the man to have the same absolute choice to stay home if he wants to? I think the issue is that the attitude being projected here is that the decision making process wasn't mutual between them and their partner, but that they have their life plan laid out and their partner better step in line when really all o…

Here's what is wrong with it, it should read If divorce, then share equal custody and economic responsibility with my ex-partner because neither he nor I should be penalized for working hard and, after all, they are OUR kids, we both worked to bring them into this world. Obviously this mindset excludes obvious instances of abuse, drug problems etc etc but if the problems are just personal this is the attitude a woman should have. Often times though the situation becomes personal and both sides a…

Nah, go read the wiki on the case it contains a lot of information about temperatures and burn severity. In regards to customer safety, there is a limit on how hot coffee should be served. I used to agree with you but then I did some reading, the case was fairly legitimate.

Actually, that woman had more precedent for the lawsuit than most people think. The coffee they had been serving was over the temperature guidelines.
