OP, good on you for fighting the good fight and knowing what's important. You're a hero. I went through something similar, although I got a somewhat better deal from the courts (thanks, Tape-a-Talk app on my phone!). PM me if you want to vent.

Unless, y'know, you actually want what's best for your kids and are willing to fight for them. Sure the easy path is to give in and let them into her clutches. But how much damage will that do to them, both that you'll know about and that you'll never know about?

Risks were run, however. What if she hadn't signalled her insanity until the next day?

The data here isn't what you think it is. Basically, what it shows is that women under 30 are in demand by all males age 15-70. Once women get over 35 or whatever, they're less in demand.

These women were not inclined to put up a steadfast defense of their victimization, let alone pursue it into the courtroom. Recantation overwhelmingly came early and relatively easily. Certainly, false rape allegations can arise from a deluded condition but we failed to find indicators for what was once offered as the mo…

I don't know, but the article links to a paper where the author actually keeps track of the reasons (where known) given for retracted accusations: Though to be fair, Kalin, the author of the study, goes into some detail about the nature of the recantations, and they’re both pretty specific and pretty plausible -- i.e., “my husband is overseas and I’m afraid I’m pregnant.” They mostly occurred a couple of days after the report, not after extended contact with “the system.” Link to paper (.pdf) Ex…

Doubtful she'll even pay it back. She's probably already spent it.

They really should call it the prison-union complex. It's the prison guard's unions which hold the power and keeps the warm bodies flowing. Especially in CA.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
