The feds have a 91% conviction rate. If you ignore dismissed cases, it's 99%. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2019/06/11/only-2-of-federal-criminal-defendants-go-to-trial-and-most-who-do-are-found-guilty/

Dude this sounds like horoscopes for men. There are legitimate reasons for the dating challenges in modern society, and it isn't "hypergamy" or whatever bullshit. De-urbanization, rise of television and the internet, increased commute lengths, low incomes leading to the inability to have a single-earner household, etc. Western society isn't collapsing because the right people aren't fucking the right people. It's collapsing because of an organized effort from the rich and powerful (and the old a…

I suspect that some of the blatant red pill/extremist content here is coming from Russian(/other) troll accounts.

You're going to run up against this issue in this community. There are a lot of right-leaning men in the men's rights community. Other subs exist like MensLib (which is very pro-feminist), and LeftWingMaleAdvocates (which I think tends to be more in the middle). Dont be discouraged though, there are plenty of people here that think like you (including myself). Only way to shift the tides is to also express your opinion (even if it may be downvoted sometimes).

It isn't? It's literally the equivalent of Trans vs Transgender (Cis vs Cisgender). How can you possibly miss that? Trans man is not a slur (for FtM), and cis man is not a slur. Jfc. It's atrocious that they would exclude cis men from their harassment policy (if that even happened, which is extremely unlikely at least in the US), but trying claim that "cis" is a slur is absolutely insane and degrades your position.

Inequality for men is bad for women too. You don't have a magic gotcha here, I'm not a feminist. Inequality is not good for the common person. It only benefits the rich and powerful.

There is a massive overlap between the MRA community and the "manosphere" with fuckwits like Andrew Tate. The men's rights community is much smaller than the women's rights community, so you can't expect successful implementation of wildly unpopular misogynist policies (except where aided by conservatives). Over 80% of Americans support at least partial abortion rights, yet there are many here who oppose them. I have seen many discussions go south in this community because people start being exc…

Yes, and? I said we should try to be better than that. Fight for men's rights, but find targeted opportunities to support women's rights as well. I did not say we should support blatantly sexist campaigns to prevent progress, nor did I say that such campaigns don't exist.

I don't think that 25% would be a greater good if it was sustained, but that's the caveat. It wouldn't be sustained, and there would be other benefits long term like more support for male victims. It's just an unfortunate effect of the transition, but you have to get over that hump. Otherwise you'll never make progress. Again, how will you find support to harshly criminalize false rape accusations if women don't feel safe to report real ones? I don't like that it's something we have to worry abo…

Again, I totally understand the concern, but this isn't that prevalent (relative to actual rapes). I'm not saying it isn't something we should be concerned about and try to stop, but if we fixate on it too much we will lose the forest for the trees (and tbh, already have). Some of these issues can't be solved by male-specific policy. Unfair policing and archaic legal policy are bad for everyone. India is rampant with corruption (as I understand, region dependent) and police malpractice. Excessiv…

And there never will be if we aren't willing to engage with women's issues. This sub in particular has a lot of vile shit posted in the comments depending on the day, it's not the majority but my point is that men's rights groups don't have amazing track records either. Don't expect the other side to be the one to extend an olive branch, particularly given that women, historically and at present (especially in the US), have had their rights threatened more than we have as men. That historical in…

I didn't say to put women first, but I did say that you might have to be willing to support (or at least not oppose) improvements to women's rights in order to shift the public sentiment to have more sympathy for men. Like I said, it's unfortunate that the reality of the situation means that men will get less sympathy. When women are worse off, it's a source of divide and disagreement, and if their situation doesn't improve there will never be agreement on men's issues. False rape reports are no…

This is why inequality for women is bad for men too, because it creates divison and makes it challenging to work together. I think the argument from women in India probably makes a lot more sense than saying women in the west (UK/US/Aus, for example) are too unequal to put efforts into men's issues. Unfortunately India has a lot of cultural challenges that might delay men's issues from being as relevant there. However, best way to help change that is to do your best to be the bigger person. Don'…

Keyword "wish", but also not everyone is a radical. The only way to bridge the gap is if someone does it first. If men's rights supporters hold firm to supporting men's issues, and show an honest interest in engaging with women's rights supporters, eventually some of them will be willing to work with us (and probably already are). Being a bunch of misogynist women-haters (as many in this sub are, even if only subconsciously) isn't going to do anything good for men's rights. Division on culture w…

To be fair India is behind the curve on rape laws in general. They haven't criminalized marital rape. They also are way underreported for women relative to the US, and rape affects more women in general (even when accounting for male-exclusionary definitions in laws). So yes, not good for men, but also not good for anyone. I wish we could partner with women's rights groups to address these kinds of issues in a way that would benefit everyone. It doesn't benefit anyone to be divided long term.

The challenge with the American left is unequal progress. Women are (currently) able to progress and gain rights faster on the left. Unequal application of positive changes (or changes that would be positive if they were applied equally). The challenge with the American right is intentionally regressive policy. The American right aims to take away rights. They yell and scream about "personal liberty", "small government" and "states rights", but the general effect of conservative policy is to eli…

That's great for you, but other people do feel that connection/belonging/culture. You can't refute the existence/value of the phenomenon simply because you don't respond in the same way.

Culture can be created by collective lived trauma. This is the case with marginalized groups. If you don't identify with the culture, you aren't being celebrated. It isn't for you. Your last paragraph is my point. There are too many people in the world to reach a uniform perspective and eliminate all marginalization. Humans have not evolved to be the ideal substrate for a utilitarian post-industrial society. As long as we retain the elements of our brains that make us human, we will continue to …

Having a designated day/period of time each year to celebrate/raise awareness for something is nice. It brings people together to amplify the visibility. Complete social uniformity and the elimination of any social gradients/barriers should not be desirable. There will always be cultural differences, by the nature of human existence. Celebrating those differences is valuable in marginalized communities because it protects against the furtherance of (implicit or explicit) marginalization.

Somewhat different situation. 49 and 46 vs 47 and 24. IMO the sentence would be longer here if the age gap were comparable.

There are plenty of women who don't want children. Assuming all women want children and that every woman BENEFITS from having to raise a child alone is pathetic, sexist, and just plain wrong.

In a good relationship, decisions are discussed and made together. That is a pretty undisputed fact.

That's true, and that is a problem. However, that does not mean that a man can't benefit from abortion.
/r/MensRights15/05/19 08:18 PM

Men having no LEGAL say in abortion does not mean that men have no say in abortion or that abortions are never mutually beneficial. If a man and a woman have a 1 night stand and the woman gets pregnant, but can't get an abortion, both of them are fucked over. The woman is stuck with a kid and the man is stuck supporting it.

I am glad I don't hang around the kind of women you do. Sounds like a sad existence. Reality often comes down to perception, and your perception sounds very misogynistic

It may not be an incel term, it's still disgusting and should be relegated to communities the likes of braincels. Sex is not a gift, sex is not a commodity. You can't "trade" sex for anything except for reciprocating sex, unless you are trading with a prostitute.

Just because it is not true in every case does not mean it isn't true in some, even many, cases. Sometimes abortion is a mutually agreed upon choice.

Do you realize that abortion prevents many men from having to pay for children that both them and their sexual partner did not want? Vengeance and removal of rights is not an effective solution to our problems.

Please, please, please don't try to claim this as a good thing. We should not hope that women's rights are reduced to match men's. That is regressive and bad for all parties. This is an unjust removal of rights that we would be enraged about if we were in a similar situation.

Generalizing any group is exactly that, generalizing. It doesn't mean that every person is like that. If you want to combat generalizations in an agreeable and reasonable way, you should say to not generalize at all. Saying to specifically not generalize women can be considered a form of sexism in and of itself because it ignores that the feminist movement frequently and rudely generalizes men.

The domestic abuse stat isn't to say that the men matter more, it's to say that men are a significant portion of the ones being abused, which is against the misconception that the abused are almost completely made up of women.
