Replace an hour of daily porn with an hour of daily gym.

I’m not sure I could pull this off. What do you say?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/21 04:41 AM

Oh.... so your theory is that for casual sex, men only fuck women hotter than them, but for relationships, they settle down with uglier women, am I understanding you correctly?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/21 02:40 PM

Men are willing to fuck anything that breathes, but they look to settle down with specific classic features and if they don’t get them, they lord it over the woman like it’s her fault she’s got the wrong nose or breasts or whatever.

Yeah. Men that keep their hair look a lot better! The ones that go bald only look good if they are tall/have a good build and body and face, they basically have to look amazing otherwise. I was pretty sad how much worse it made Prince William look. He was so handsome with hair.

Or the reverse. I read romance novels in high school, before I actually had any real life access to guys.

Lol idk about that. One of the most interesting older women I’ve ever met had a linen closet filled to the brim with old romance novels. Maybe you’re right if you only mean our generation, but probably not women in general.

50 Shades is awful awful awful. I’m not big on romance, but that is by far the worst of the genre, like saying the only country song you ever heard was “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” and you’re gonna judge it all by that.

Looks take a long time to deteriorate, though. I know lots of attractive couples in their 50s. I’m sure it would have been a long couple of decades if they’d been partnered off with uglier people.

Lol what? No. I had no feelings for the first guy and tons of feelings for the second guy. Pair bonding isn’t some magical switch that gets flipped like we’re robots. Actual human feelings matter.

I mean, idk how it averages out, but my longtime fwb is the dude in an open relationship so he is definitely not at home crying lol. He’s also def not bb, though.

I have no idea what’s available at the grocery. For my clients, I formulate something very ashy and double pigmented and leave it on for half the processing time.

As a hairstylist, I can assure you, plenty of my male clients already darken their hair and/or beard to look more masculine.

women have gotten pickier. Have we? Grandma had 3-5 guys her own age courting her at any given time, taking her out, treating her like a lady, never expecting her to put out. They paid for dates, planned everything, brought flowers, and completely expected to “sell” her and her parents on why they were a good catch and how they intended to spend their lives taking care of her and loving her. Now men want to “just hang out and chill” no commitment, demand sex ASAP even if you aren’t that kind of …

I wish I were exaggerating. Dude suggested we go for a picnic at a nice park and we grab some snacks to take with us. He paid and didn’t ring up the wine and I asked why and he said “because you can’t use an EBT card for that” and I asked what an EBT card was and then felt sick that taxpayer money was being wasted on this and wanted to bail immediately.

Honestly, I see all the same people at the gym with me, so it never occurred to me that this was above average behavior. It’s a good point, though! And definitely getting harder to find in my 30s when a lot of people seem to give up on taking care of themselves and let themselves go.

I workout 6x/week and everyone I’ve seriously dated has, too. And run marathons or done bodybuilding or powerlifting competitions. If you’re right, then “average” just isn’t for me.

Sorry, do you want me to list out every bad time? Because I have to actually get to work later. Average quality means he at least is able to live alone without roommates, has a car, no significant debt, good career path, no drug use, cares about his health and fitness and is in the gym at least 3x/week, and is similarly as attractive as me. 80% of men fail to hit that marker. They could if they wanted to, honestly, most of them fail because they are too lazy to workout or they’re obsessed with w…

No, I literally had men who were like 45 and on food stamps/practically homeless trying to hit me up on dating apps. Like, maybe they should be working on their lives and not trying to date?

Okay, but all this assumed the girl in question has “been around the block”. Most women aren’t Only Fans models and club girls, they’re normal women who’ve just had a couple of boyfriends.

Honestly, a man expecting sex on the first date when I don’t even know him just tells me he’s desperate and can’t get sex elsewhere and that’s why he has to rush me. If he had a fwb or two on the side and he actually liked me enough to get to know me, he wouldn’t care at all whether we had sex on date 4 or date 7, it literally wouldn’t matter at all because he’d be getting plenty of sex, not just pushing me along for that one end goal. And deciding that every woman who has had sex with more than…

Also women shouldn’t settle for men who don’t give them regular enthusiastic sex. I’m so tired of the conversation sounding like it’s always the woman then my real life experience of it always being the man.

I mean, we went out at first, but we definitely don’t now. We only see each other a few times a month and it’s strictly physical, nothing else. We don’t hang out or talk on the phone or spend time together, ever, and it’s been years. And we certainly have actual personal lives outside of each other with no illusions of exclusivity.

Do those women exist? I do have a lot of female friends who are comfortable having sex shockingly early, but they do that with everyone.

There doesn't even have to be a strategy behind it. Not everyone is comfortable having sex with someone they barely know. This, exactly. Even my fwb and I didn’t hook up right away. We knew each other as acquaintances for a few months and went out on actual dates and spent time together getting to know each other and getting comfortable before ever getting physical, let alone having actual sex. Why would I trust some random stranger with my body if I wouldn’t even trust him with the keys to my c…

Okay but is there like a statue of limitations on that? Is a 40 year old woman expected to put out early just because she tried it twice in college? Also what if she was really drunk when that happened is it fair to say “you had more passion for the man you barely remember meeting after 5 long islands”?

Agreed. There are literally thousands of more appropriate options under $500 and he chose the tiniest saddest ring he could find. It’s absolutely a test.

It should be the reverse. There’s no way that guy found eleven prostitutes and zero of them were being exploited or trafficked or had substance abuse issues or were doing it out of sheer desperation.

They talk about this in Women Who Love Too Much and how nagging actually makes the man put in even less effort because he feels more and more secure that you’ll never leave no matter how angry you act. Kind of like walking my dog off leash. I have to actually start walking away from her in order for her to follow me. Otherwise I’d just be chasing her to the thai restaurant that gives her a plate of chicken.

I think it needs to be printed out and folded up inside the packaging of pads and tampons so every girl and woman over age 12 or so reads it every single month.

Back before covid, I used to go to some amateur night comedy. Ever single male told a joke about jerking off a lot as a teenager as though he was the first comedic genius to ever think of such a thing. The women had good material and bad material, but at least it was unique to each of them.

Interesting that you exclude business owners. I’ve owned my salon/spa for 8 years and have found that only other business owners understand me. In my 20s, I’d let boyfriends give me horrible advice on managing employees, running my business, etc. never again.

I’m a stylist, too. Dealing with kids is the worst. Not always because of the kid, but because there is always a middle man (the parent) getting involved in the service. Rather than change careers, would you ever consider working somewhere more high end? Once you’re charging $100 a haircut, you’re not going to be detangling little kid hair anymore.

I have never seen or heard any grown adult woman “laugh mercilessly” at another woman for buying herself anything. I’m not personally a jewelry gal, but my friends are always psyched for me when I make a big exciting purchase.

I once dated a man who got really frustrated with me for “always talking”. He said he felt like he could never get a word in edgewise. Mortified, I started secretly timing us both while we spoke to make sure I wasn’t dominating the conversation. It turned out I was speaking 10 minutes for ever 40 minutes he talked. And he found that unbalanced! That was one of the reasons I dumped him.

I know I have already made several comments about Women Who Love Too Much, but honestly OP, check out that book. It explains exactly what men think when we nag them to do something, and how to react instead. It explains that the more we nag and get frustrated with them, the SAFER they feel in a relationship! They can actually do LESS because you are spending so much time dialed in on them. They aren’t even listening to your words AT ALL, their just seeing your actions. And your actions are showi…

Yep. I bought into this BS and paid tons of bills for boyfriends. I actually had to dump one just to scramble my finances back together after he had been bouncing rent checks behind my back and suddenly expected me to pay for over $9,000 of his mistakes. All to prove I was a good feminist woman who was t going to mooch off a man 🙄🙄🙄

I’d feel pretty good and understand why he wanted an adult partner because I paid an ex boyfriend’s bills before and it was shitty and made me resent him.

I recently read Women Who Love too Much and it talks about how a healthy relationship dynamic can feel “boring” to women who have a history of problem relationship. So many lightbulbs for me in that book.

Lol makeup did not even become mainstream until the 20s and 30s you think all marriages prior to 1950 involved false eyelashes? At least flip through some magazine articles before thinking you know historical makeup trends, lol.

I mean, I dated a guy who was super beta once, but there were definitely no bux. I had to cover his ass financially quite a lot. In my experience, the hot muscley guy usually has a pretty good job and lots of stability. Guys who are losers are losers all around. It’s not like dudes come in two flavors “hot” or “rich”.

I’ve yo-yo dieted more than Oprah and I’ve come to believe it’s more of a control/status thing for men amount their own peers than their actual levels of sexual attraction. What do I mean? Imagine reversing the genders and a woman telling a man she won’t commit until he puts on some biceps. Then maybe she even shows pics of him flexing to her girl friends and brags that he had to go to the gym to keep her. Plus, after he’s done this for her, she now enjoys a higher level of control in the relati…

It’s not that I hate men. I don’t. At all! It’s just that I was raised understanding/believing they were all more together, more adult, smarter, more capable, handier, and just all around a better type of human than women. So I was pretty shocked and disappointed when I met men who were even stupider than me—what the hell? Surely I only got scholarships because of affirmative action, not because I was as smart as a man, right? Or men who’d insist on hanging a shelf or assembling IKEA since it’s …

Honesty this sounds like the girl was not into you, but felt obligated to be nice/polite (maybe something you said/did, but it might not be you, might just be she’s learned to placate men in her past). I can think of plenty of times I’ve felt socially pressured to reassure men they were attractive, smart, interesting or whatever while I still personally would avoid any more dates. If this is the case, the emotion I’d feel after the dude finally stopped “pursing” me would be relief.

if an 8 walked up to me This seems like a perspective where the women are simply objects and not human beings. All “8” women are interchangeable, not even a mention of connection. I get how it makes sense to objectify humans to this level if you’re a college kid on spring break, but a life lived wholly that way isn’t just sad it’s lacking in humanity.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to find every third or fourth person attractive. I would find that hugely distracting. It’s better to only have attraction and chemistry with a few people—that makes it special! If everyone is “attractive”, no one is.

Having a boyfriend is easier than having a child, but a lot more work than having a pet. I have had every type of boyfriend. This is how it goes: If he is richer than you, it is a financial strain because he’ll want to go to expensive places and you need to pay half to prove you’re not a gold digger, plus have an outfit/hair/nails/makeup which adds up, too. You will still feel guilty because of the imbalance and your male friends will give you metric tons of shit for dating someone with more mon…

It’s so terrible that you have to list your hair length/bra size etc when wondering why your ex was so crappy when it’s pretty much a given that all men lose sexual interest in long term relationships/marriage. There’s nothing a woman could do to stop it except morph into a new woman every six months.

Yep. I ended things a few months ago with a dude past me would’ve stuck with for an extra year or two. He was very surprised pikachu face “just because I don’t have my life figured out means I have to be alone?” ...which just revealed he wasn’t upset about losing me in particular, he was just upset at it having a woman around in general.

My ex did this. Put a business card for a swing dance studio in my Christmas stocking and told me he was buying us a six week set of lessons. I actually started tearing up, because I’ve always wanted to take swing dance lessons and I’d vocally repeated that desire to every past boyfriend and they’d all ignored it. Anyway, you can see where this is going. He never bought the lessons, was disrespectful to my family and friends all holiday, and had secretly been bouncing checks for his half of the …
