It’s entirely up to you! I guess as long as you have an understanding of them it’d work but there are some questions about your own experience with inceldom. Send me a message if you wanna discuss it more :)

I’m obviously speaking very generally here and I’m aware there’s many nuances. However, I’d say that a typical belief system of incel ideology is believing your looks immediately determine your social standing, often being anti-feminist, and following either red pill or black pill beliefs too. A romantically unsuccessful person may not hold the same beliefs and I think it’s those kind of factors that differentiate.

oh yeah I can understand that entirely. I guess I’m not trying to say it causes people to become incels but can normalise some of the thinking etc, if that makes sense? if you’d be willing to be interviewed or even if I sent you my questions and you typed your answers, I could hear more of your thoughts.

Then, you’re within your right to believe that and I’m definitely not here to debate dw. I’m more looking into how online content (for example memes) are used to ‘recruit’ people in a sense or how quickly algorithms will push certain content once you start interacting with it. However, I’d be happy to hear your thoughts regardless.

Hi, common beliefs in incel culture are by definition an ideology (“a system of ideas and ideals”). Especially when considering things like red pill or black pill. It’s maybe not what makes people incels that’s an ideology but many of the beliefs or views they hold can be classed as one :)

Hi, as I’m doing qualitative/more open ended research I’m not necessarily looking to “prove” something. I want to better understand peoples opinions and experiences. Something I specifically want to investigate is if people believe there’s a pipeline of content online that can push people towards certain beliefs etc. Hope that helps :)

MASTERS RESEARCH ON (ex)INCELS, MASCULINITY AND THE INTERNET - MOD APPROVED Hi, I posted this a couple days ago but posting again in hopes to gain a couple more participants! I’m a Master’s student at the University of Stirling and I’m writing my dissertation on incels, masculinity and the impact of the internet. I’m looking to interview a few men, aged 18-30, who used to be incels or followed similar ideology/thinking. Interviews will be done online and all my findings will be anonymous. I’m no…

Hi, as I’m doing interviews/qualitative research I don’t need a control group. I’m not necessarily looking for a definitive answer to a question but to hear people’s opinions and experiences. Hope that helps :)

I’ve gained plenty of research and analysis skills throughout my degree and have also made great contacts through a placement and my own volunteer work. Although my research on incels may not be directly applicable to jobs, the skills I gain from carrying out such a project and speaking to people will be useful. The skills I have from both my degrees and me as a person will be helpful in getting jobs in the sector I wish to be in. It also just means I get to study something I’m interested in as …

Hi, you’re right that they’re quite different and apologies if it seemed like I’m saying it’s all the same. I’m mostly saying “similar ideology” in order to appeal to as many people as I can. I know that some people may not have necessarily identified with the term “incel” but possibly agree with a lot of the thinking etc. Although each ideology is obviously quite different, I feel it could still apply to my research so it is just me making sure anyone feels like can participate if they want to …

Hi, I’m studying Gender Studies and I decided to pursue this topic as I felt it was an interesting way to look into masculinity and the internet. I have people in my life who have previously been involved with incel culture and I wanted to expand on what I knew from their experiences and gain a better understanding of a community and form of masculinity that I’m not as familiar with. Hope that helps :))

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
