The "only 10% of rapes are reported" is bullshit. But...Lauren Southern is being disingenuous as well with her response of "so they are reported". The woman was obviously talking specifically about reports to police, not women reporting to a crisis center, etc. They're both wrong.

Different states, different cases, different mitigating circumstances. There's no evidence here that she was let off for being a woman. I've seen the bullshit stories posted here where the judge has made remarks to a woman's children needing their mother and letting that be an influence for a light sentencing. Here though, there is no solid evidence of her being let off without jail time simply because she is a woman. Nobody posting here sat in the courtroom during the trial as far as I can tell…

Public school in the UK has the same definition as Private school in the US No. There are public schools, independent/private schools, and state schools. Private schools in the UK have the same definition as private schools in the US (for the most part). You are correct that public schools in the UK are not the same as public schools in the US. Public schools in the UK are independently run, but they are mostly boarding schools that are more exclusive than your typical private school. Think a sc…

That is the rules and she agreed to abide by those rules when she enrolled in the school. It's a private school, he doesn't have to be there. It's not. It's a state run school. In England "Academy" doesn't usually refer to a private school like it does in the US.

Men with weapons come to your house to take you to prison when you've done nothing wrong. You have no way to defend yourself. And if you fight back you will be shot or beat to submission. Welcome to America. Welcome to England. Welcome to Canada. Welcome to Ireland. Welcome to China. Welcome to Brazil. Welcome to Russia. Welcome to France. Welcome to the the world. My entire point was, I wouldn't give up seeing a country like Spain if I had the opportunity. There are shit laws around the globe. …

Calling Spain a totalitarian regime over this law is complete hyperbole. Again, you must have an extremely short list of countries that you're willing to travel to.

I never understand these overly-emotional knee-jerk reactions. If everyone decided not to visit a country that had even just one law they find morally reprehensible, they'd have nowhere in the world to travel....in fact I don't even think they would have a place to live.

Local news station posted the video on FB, and I made a comment about how she's clearly the aggressor and the double standard involved. Surprisingly close to 100 people liked the comment and many of them were women. A lot of the comments were younger women agreeing with me. The people who disagreed were mostly men....and some of them were really pissed off. What was interesting is based on their profile pictures they were all 40/50+ years old. They called me a loser, some said that my father mus…

As I said in my initial post, Franklin was referring to the right of self-governance when he spoke of "essential Liberty" in this quote. The Pennsylvania General Assembly had voted to pass the legislation, the Penn Family was circumventing the process by using their power and influence to get the governor to veto it.
/r/MensRights02/06/15 10:43 PM
3

Your reply comes off as a bit hostile and I'm not sure why considering I'm simply giving an objective historical fact. As for your question, the Penn Family proposed that they pay a one time lump sum to be used to help secure the frontier. They were using their power and influence to circumvent the legislative process and (quite literally) "purchase a little temporary safety."
/r/MensRights02/06/15 07:51 PM
10

It's a paraphrase of a quote by Ben Franklin. It's constantly butchered and misunderstood. The original quote is: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Most people misquote it in the way /u/InWadeTooDeep did however, and believe it means that if a person is willing to give up their civil liberties (freedom) in order to feel more secure, do not deserve to have either of them. The quote is actually in reference to a …

I have a rule to never feel guilty on a vacation.....you're suppose to be indulging yourself. Every other week of the year I do my best to eat healthy, not drink too much, get enough sleep, go to the gym regularly.....screw that on a vacation. I've never understood the people who are up at 5am on a cruise ship to go the gym.

Well, like alcohol I consume it in moderation, I'm not overweight, and according to my physician I'm in great health. So I'll stick with both for now. If you manage to avoid both in your diet though, that's great. It's not an easy task.
/r/MensRights31/03/15 11:16 PM

I don't think 3 times per week is too much for dessert, if you're active, and the rest of your diet is healthy. The AHA says up to 37.5 grams of sugar per day is alright. Now, if you are already overweight and obese, I would agree that consuming sugar should be limited to 1 or 2 days per week at most.

And your opinion is that he strayed beyond being civil? Based on what? Based on what I've read, and statements he has made himself. To be honest, this entire thread reeks of feminist ideology. No, it doesn't at all. "We won't stand up for the principle of freedom of speech, we will revoke this man's right to freedom of speech because we disagree with who he is." What really got me was the hangups over the "YOLO swag smoking partying" crowd passing their SAT with the same scores despite all his extra effort. Well, like I said, I don't believe OP's story, but a 2060 isn't a bad score, it's in the 95th percentile. The average score is a 1500. I can't believe there's a large amount of "yolo swag smoking partying" teenagers who are getting the same scores.

I find it interesting that he decided to post in a sub where it's against the rules to call out the OP. I saw a couple posts last night where people did, and today they have been deleted by the mods there. I understand why that's a rule in the sub, but the mods should use some common sense and at least allow a little bit of questioning when there are outrageous stories like this posted.

I've got a lot of issues with this story. First, let me say I'm no fan of public schools. It's not necessary though. I'm sure parents have plenty of photos of their child clothed. Why show one of them naked? That's what makes it weird to me. I'm no prude when it comes to nudity, either. I think a lot of people get too worked up and "offended" over it. Still though, you don't need to show someone a picture of your child naked, so why do it?

The NFL doesn't have anymore of a "domestic violence issue" than any other large organization has. I'm sure you can find any large organization or company that has multiple employees who are involved in domestic violence. On a website the size of reddit there are probably hundreds of users here, if not more, who have committed acts of domestic violence, both men and women. That doesn't mean that reddit has an "issue" with domestic violence.... The only "problem" the NFL has is that it is compris…

Which is absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how people can support the law being that way and think it represents fairness or "justice." I've read stories of guys being charged and found guilty for picking up girls who were drinking in a bar with a fake ID. How can people support that?
/r/MensRights01/08/14 02:03 PM

That line stood out to me. Different men are not equal in strength either. I'm 5'10 and 220 pounds. If a man who's 5'6 and 160 pounds hits me, should I not be allowed to him back? Or if I walk up to some Mr. Olympia contestant and hit him, should I be able to complain it's unfair when he hits me back because we're not "equal" in terms of physical strength?

I feel the same way, but we are in the minority on this sub. I subscribed here for legitimate issues, unfairness in divorce/alimony and child support/custody, lack of assistance for men with mental health problems, false rape allegations, the treatment of boys in school, the attacks on masculinity in modern society, etc. This sub has just become filled with a bunch of emasculated cry babies with no sense of humor and who are no different from modern feminists.

Well I hate it entirely, not just in the men's rights movement. It oversimplifies the world. If I'm having a political discussion with people and bring up that I'm strong supporter of the 2nd amendment I'll get, "Oh so you're a conservative." In another discussion I might bring up my support for Planned Parenthood and it's "Oh, so you must be a liberal." He made some good points in the video but I'm really not a fan of the whole "left vs right" paradigm. Planned Parenthood really does do a lot more than just provide abortions. While I lean more towards what most people would consider to be "conservative" on a lot of issues, I completely support PP. Easy and cheap access to abortions for low-income families means a lower violent crime rate and less of a burden for taxpayers in the future.

road rages don't end up in shootings, neither do domestic disputes, or drunken brawls. This may surprise you but those situations do not tend to lead to shootings by legal gun owners in the United States either. But Trevor’s ordeal was not yet over. The prosecution demanded a retrial... I see this so often in articles about a person wrongly jailed. Even when there is overwhelming evidence that the person is innocent prosecutors will fight to keep them jailed or demand a retrial. Saying "women don't care about how you feel" is an overgeneralization. Many do. That doesn't change basic biological programming though. Telling a woman you are weak, vulnerable, scared, crying, etc. is going to make her less attracted to you sexually. That's not something people can just change because we tell them it's "wrong" (and personally I don't think it's right or wrong...it just is). I think that your typical school yard fights should not involve law enforcement at all. He was, and I definitely don't agree with his statement of wanting to reverse gender roles 100 years, that's ridiculous. I have a mix of of beliefs, some very traditional/conservative, and others very progressive. I've been a daily reader of this sub for almost a year now, posting on occasion, and I've just come to see that supporting certain more traditional views really gets you the cold shoulder from this sub (as well as accusations of being a troll.)
/r/MensRights29/12/13 07:07 PM

Well good for you. Im curious how you balance the ideas of traditional male/female roles vs progressive ideology of gender neutrality. Well, speaking for myself, I didn't subscribe to this sub to support or advance "gender neutrality" and I don't think that should be a requirement for someone to be considered an MRA. My interests are in divorce law, child support/custody, better treatment for boys in education, and things of that nature.

Attitudes like this make me nervous if I ever have children. I have a large gun collection and shoot competitively. My kid is going to be learning about gun safety as a toddler and I plan on having him in the range with me by the time he's in Kindergarten. Let me reword my response then. In modern Western nations the patriarchy as defined by a majority of feminist, i.e. the systematic oppression of women by men, does not exist.

The patriarchy-deniers are as bad as holocaust deniers. You can bring attention to matriarchal double standards without denying that patriarchy exists. Well, the book is described as partly a memoir and partly an economic critique. She is a woman and was incarcerated in a woman's prison...so I don't necessarily see this as “fuck men", just her focusing on an experience that effected her. Unless she specifically states that men's prisons should not also be reformed, I don't see a problem with her book.

Well, I would say in very specific cases, some form of temporary alimony at a reasonable amount should be allowed. If a woman has been a stay at home mother and has never worked in the last 10 years, then I can understand some temporary support for one, maybe two years. And it does need to be reasonable. These types of raids are a huge problem. Why did the police feel the need to send in a full SWAT team, break down the door with a battering ram, and shut down all the streets surrounding the house? The militarization of the police is becoming a huge problem in this country. There was no evidence that this man was dangerous or an immediate threat. After the police obtained a search warrant they could have easily surveyed his house for a day, ascertained who was inside, and then easily detained th…

When I was a kid, my grandfather and I would make wooden guns, not just for me, but for my friends in the neighborhood. We would draw them out, cut them out, and paint them. During the summer there would be about 10 of us running up and down the neighborhood streets pretending to shoot each other. That was in the mid-90's. It's amazing how much things have changed in such a short time. Did it turn me into a psychopath? Nope. But I did learn creativity, how to use a table mounted jigsaw, how to s…

I see nothing wrong with this photo. This is exactly what we complain feminists do. There is no issue here, stop trying to make one up.

I go on Tumblr quite often, and enjoy it. Just like Reddit, you decide what you see on your homepage. You don't want to see feminist posts? Don't follow feminists. You don't want to see childish bullshit? Don't follow teenagers. It's pretty simple.

Ok. That's it. I'm done with this sub. I've been involved with various websites, message boards, and blogs that have dealt with the general theories of this sub for a couple years now. But fuck this. I've seen too many extreme, outrageous, and bullshit posts here. This takes the cake. This is a post by a so-called "Endorsed Contributor" on the FUCKING NAZI PARTY. And as of now it has 22 FUCKING UPVOTES AND 15 DOWNVOTES. No wonder Reddit as a whole thinks this sub is scum. EDIT: I want to clarify…

I can't say I agree with this. Rescuing a kidnapp victim or stopping a sexual assault is NOT what I consider being a "White Knight."

From what I've read online they should have been required at that time unless they were residents of Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, the only two counties that are exempt of the law (funny that they're the richest, for the most part, isn't it?) *Edit -Grammar

I actually have mixed feelings on it. I'm sure it's been extremely helpful to many families, but I don't like the idea that it's mandatory for everyone. I'd prefer a short interview with the couple to see if it was needed before the state deciding that it's n for them to take an 8 hour class. Funny story, my parents both received a phone call that proceedings were being stopped during their divorce because they had not taken the class. I was 24 at the time of their divorce... *Edit - Changed a r…

I've watched their videos and read their free ebook out of curiosity. It's all complete garbage, utter trash. The guy who runs the entire thing has some of the most insane viewpoints I've ever seen. He considers evolution and apparently most modern science as a product of feminism. A couple of his videos list things such as eating sushi, having tattoos or piercings, wearing certain clothes, etc. as being "wrong" and "dysfunctional."

In Massachusetts both parents are required to take a parenting class just in order to get a divorce if the child is under 18, even if there aren't any custody issues.

How am I shouting at your daughter? I was commenting on the intention behind your post and on the fact that you called it sexism. Ironically, getting so upset and acting as if I'm attacking your daughter in some way was quite an over-reaction...

I don't think things like this should really be made an issue of. Not having a picture of a man on the packaging of a bed rail is not blatant sexism. Complaining about something so trivial makes this movement look like a joke, not to mention hypocritical considering all the posts mocking feminists who attempt to make a big stink over non-issues.

While I'm outraged at situation, and I see absolutely nothing sexual about that drawing, the one thing I can't get over is that a person with the username Bukkake_Monster thinks just because someone is involved in BDSM isn't suitable to be working with children.

I worked with one boy who suffered from mild cognitive delays (IQ was in the low 70's). From the time he was very young his father would have sex with prostitutes while he was in the room. When he got older (around 12) his father would force him to have sex with prostitutes multiple times a week while he watched, as well as use various drugs. That's just one example. For the most part though the boys I worked with were raped and abused by family members for most of their childhood. Combine that …

Every time I see the line "We need to teach boys not to rape/tell men not to rape" I can't help but wonder....on what planet do boys get taught to rape? My father never sat me down and said, "Son, now that you're becoming a man it's time for a lesson on how to rape a woman." Granted, I know there are rare exceptions, I use to work as a counselor with teenage boys who had acted out sexually, and yes, some of them learned it from their parents. But there were mental health issues involved and thes…
