Ahhh I see where you’re coming from. Sorry from your original comment I thought you were implying that it was solely black culture at fault and I just wanted to provide a holistic view of the situation. I agree that change needs to be effected in every aspect possible. Goddamn I love amiable reddit convo’s.

Hm. You’re completely right! The reason behind this is actually very interesting from an anthropological standpoint. Here’s a good write up: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3804270/ Has less to do with “black culture” and more to do with the challenges that come with being a black woman in America, and in the most literal sense being a black woman.
